there was hardly time to enjoy such things in life. the simple principle of formality was never a second thought, as it came naturally to the boy. as such he found no difficulty in guiding her steps as hand gently tugged hers along. this was second nature, as he’d done so his whole life. the steps, simple, but flowing. seared into his brain by an unforgiving tutor.
what’d been a chore had become something freeing, simple as it may be, he found copious amounts of joy in the act. it wasn’t for his father, or the public this time. it was just a moment between himself and ms rose. he didn’t worry about her stumbling, as everybody started somewhere.
he was merely thankful for the glimpse of something outside his caged existence. fleeting as it might be.
“You’re doing well, do not think about it too much, Ruby.”
