What do u think will be of Slarb's development/fate?
Ooh, that's a good question! I'm curious to see if the show will follow what happens in the books with Slarb. (In one of the livestreams, it was mentioned that they opted not to use the Black Carriage poem because it might've been too scary for younger viewers—but I think we can still count on certain Big Sad Things happening later on, so I'm not certain what they intend to do in those areas here in Season 1.)
Like in the books, the show's Slarb is not held in very high regard by the other Fangs. When you're a bad guy, and your fellow bad guys are laughing at how the good guys did little things to trounce you? Ouch. Slarb is pretty mad about that.
He may not be very powerful, or have the authority to do much—but he's almost scarier for it, because no one lets him forget that fact and he hates it. He's willing to do whatever he can to make the other Fangs regret the way they talk about him, and we're not sure how long his orders not to harm the Igibys will hold him back. I think that's actually an awesome way to develop a more minor antagonist! It's always unnerving when you're not sure just how far an impulsive, bitter character will go in a situation.
I think he makes a great (if very troublesome) antagonist, and I look forward to seeing what happens with his part of the plot in the show!
Slarb’s Development
I never read the books but I’ve read what Slarb’s fate would be. I feel like for the series, it might change. It seems he’s considered a joke to all the other Fangs. Especially to the Commander’s eyes.
He’s def in the bottom of the rankings. Constantly looked down on, laughed at and overall it’s clear the other Fangs really don’t respect him. It makes me wonder if it might make him reflect on how like he’s pushed around by them, he shouldn’t be doing the same to the humans. Ngl a part of me hopes he might have a change of heart and perhaps even help the Igiby family. He def owes it to them. Another thing I’ve noticed is compared to the other fangs with grayer greens or forest greens like the Commander, he has a warm spring type green. His eyes are also different to the others as well(them being orange and yellow. He’s from Dang I believe so perhaps that’s how Fangs from them look like but still, makes me think, I remember one of the Fangs joked about him needing two re-fangings. Hes also in a lot of pictures with the other Igiby kids and right behind them in the picture, him being put in a slightly warmer light like the rest of the Igiby’s and allies compared to the Commander looking at him with judgement, seen in a darker, colder light with the rest of the Fangs in the background. It’s not big but there’s def a difference between him and the Commander, atleast to me. Last ep, he raided the Igiby home to find the Jewels of Anniera to earn the Commander’s respect. Though I’m pretty sure all he found was a family necklace. I can imagine the Commander and everyone else will end up just laughing at him, the Commander taking the necklace without even a thank you and he’ll just be left alone, humiliated wondering what he was even doing. Might lead to some serious thinking for him. Slarb-I CAN THINK! If this is the case, I’d be really excited if they go this route. He def has a lot to make up for, especially with what he did to Sara Cobbler. A part of wants to hope atleast not all Fangs are bad and perhaps one might decide to join the good guys. I don’t think Slarb’s story is ending any time soon. The picture’s from the show, in ep 1 What do u think? Could he actually change or will stay the same or get worse? I’d love to know💖
