2.5 weeks since my last race (UTMB TDS) which drained me both physically and mentally. I tried to abstain from running as much as possible, in order to give my body time to recover and heal, but traveling right after TDS with long distances of driving, jet lag, late nights out (with a bit too much beer & wine), and no meditation haven't helped with the recovery process. I feel quite tired and not ready at all for my race this weekend, the Skyviewtrail 60km edition. Why another race? Because the race is held near my home base in Japan (Minakami /Gunma) and I felt the obligation to support this event. I basically have been tapering since UTMB TDS, so will keep it easy until race day.

Today I had an ART session (first time since I left Japan in May) followed by a deep tissue massage. Both ankles are very stiff and according to Dr. Arai, loosing elasticity, which could cause many other problem so I definitely need to get this fixed after the race this weekend.

What an awesome day! The race course was diverse with fast road sections, river climbing and a technical ascent to the peak of Mt. Hotaka (2158m) The whole course was near my hometown, but several sections were new to me. Many friends gathered together for this race, so pre and post race spending time with my friends after being away in Europe and US for such a long time, made it a very precious weekend! And pretty satisfied with my result too, although I hadn't felt ready at all.
