Tbh, I’m not entirely sure all these characters have a ‘fatal flaw’. The story and their development is too complex for an easy answer, for us to be able to say this one thing was the main reason. I’d say, for the prequels, it was an accumulation of ‘little things’ :P

Anakin’s story, being shaped like a tragedy, is easier to look at and say oh this is where everything went wrong. we even have that ‘fatal’ moment where he goes one way instead of another. Of course, even in his case the answer varies depending on how we view the character.

George Lucas believes Anakin’s ‘fatal flaw’ was greed. that his inability to accept he couldn’t (shouldn’t) always get what he wanted was his downfall.  Personally, I think it was deference. It was his inability to separate himself from the will of others was drove him over the edge. His ‘greed’ was simple of byproduct of that. If Anakin had been able to choose freely for himself, if he had been allowed to express his desires without shame and censure, if had been thought that blind obedience isn’t healthy and that no one, specially a kid should be expected to save the entire galaxy, he would’ve been able to make better choices. And by making better choices he wouldn’t have been so desperate to cling to what little he had and so easily manipulated by the adults around him.

Obi-wan’s has a similar problem. Where Anakin struggles with the idea of personal freedom as a result of his upbringing, Obi-wan struggles with compartmentalization. We have Obi-wan, the man, who loves Anakin, his friends, who cares for little children and who’s kind to the sick and then we have Obi-wan, the Jedi, who leaves loved ones, who commits war crimes in the name of the greater good, who is always thinking of the bigger picture, etc. 

If Mustafar marks Anakin’s failure in letting go of what he loves, it also marks Obi-wan’s inability to conciliate two parts of himself: the part who wants to save Anakin because he loves him and the parts who wants to kill Anakin for what he’s done.

It’s been mentioned before but, I think Johnny’s character is incredibly misinterpreted. He isn’t some meek, timid child, he’s a sixteen year old boy who grew up in an abusive home and cruel social environment. He can take care of himself, he’s a good man in a rumble — but he does have childlike tendencies. 

He puts ketchup on everything: eggs, sandwiches, vegetables, even plain bread. Darry, Pony, and Dallas find it absolutely revolting. He also talks to inanimate objects (Pony talks to himself, which is fitting), he apologizes to things when he knocks them over and greets his bedroom every morning. Mina thinks it stems from his chronic loneliness, but she’d never say that aloud.

Are you referring to that scene in S7’s premiere? As I have mentioned before, I don’t buy for a single second that Anakin would ever tell Rex about his relationship with Padmé. it’s one of my biggest issues with S7. That doesn’t make any sense because there’s nothing in previous season to support the idea that Anakin and Rex were ever THAT close. Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of mutual respect, admiration and loyalty between the two of them but they in terms of personal relationships, Anakin was FAR more close to Obi-wan and Ahsoka. Also, Rex was a professional and he took a lot of pride in that fact. He didn’t get involved in his general private affairs.

Yes, she did. Rex thought back to the look on Skywalker’s face whenever he saw Senator Amidala on the HNE newscasts or heard her name mentioned. Now, there was a man dealing with attachment. Nothing overt, just the small giveaways that another man noticed if he spent enough time with his boss: the way Skywalker didn’t look away from the Senator quite soon enough, the way he always seemed to snap to attention when he heard her name. Must be hard for him to know he can never do a thing about it. Rex put the thought out of his head. Gossip was for the ranks, and dwelling on life’s restrictions didn’t do much for anyone’s morale. Anakin didn’t even tell Palpatine about his marriage! And, to put things in perspective, Anakin actually told him about the Tusken slaughter. So, in Anakin’s mind, his marriage to Padmé was a bigger secret than his murder spree but I’m supposed to believe his biggest secret was a openly known fact?

“She could never …” “Of course she could,” Palpatine said. “That is the nature of politics, my boy. Don’t take it too personally. It doesn’t mean the two of you can’t be happy together.” “What—?” The room seemed to darken around him. “What do you mean?” “Please, Anakin. Rex and Anakin don’t need to have shared secrets to care for each other. and the fact they had a great professional relationship doesn’t diminishes the bond and loyalty between them. People don’t need to be BFFs to have a respectful, meaningful relationship.

Technically, Anakin wasn’t ‘close’ with any of the clones. He had a lot of respect for them, obviously cared for them but they weren’t part of his personal life. that’s fanfic. Anakin’s free time was spent with Padmé. Everyone else only saw a version of him: the jedi, the general, the chosen one, etc. not even with Obi-wan or Ahsoka he allowed himself to speak freely about his private life.

Because Dooku was racist, elitist and ableist. In Anakin’s case, it was his background (son of a slave raised in poverty) and his prosthesis what made in inferior in Dooku’s eyes.

Oh unpopular opinion time lol

As much as it pains me, i’d have to say no. Look, I love good “anakin lives happily ever after” AU as much as the next person but, when based only on canon, my answer is no. first of all, Padmé had no claim over Anakin. At that point in time, Shmi was still alive and Anakin was under Jedi protection. His fate was for the Council to decide, regardless of what happened to Qui-Gon and Obi-wan. With them out of the picture, they would probably return the kid to Tatooine. Now, the question is, do we really see the Council communicating Padmé of their decision and Padmé taking the time to getting Anakin, going back to Tatooine to rescue Shmi and find them both a home? Personally, I don’t. It’s not that Padmé was uncaring or cruel, but there’s no canon evidence of her ever giving the slavery issue the weight it deserved. So, I don’t see her doing much about it in the immediate aftermath of a battle, when she has a planet to rebuild.

Padmé cares but her privilege upbringing keeps her from understanding how badly the situation is until it her directly in the face. I mean, she knew the Republic was broke because of the war but it took Teckla literally spelling it out for her to understand how badly it was affecting the average citizen. She lived with slaves for days, she married one but she never embraced the cause, and that tells me a lot about how much Padmé would empathize with Anakin being returned to Shmi or how much she would actually understands of what it would mean for him.

Let’s say he already knows Merida and has a relationship with her, let’s say that Merida isn’t immortal and will eventually die or marry a “real” person. So because of that Jack would have to make the ultimate sacrifice (if it were possible). In this scenario Merida doesn’t meet her future daughter.

The Guardians would be understandably confused, bewildered and disbelieving; not to mention Jack may as well died again from the shock.

present/past!Jack wouldnt have thought about giving up what essentially took 300 years to accomplish and he too cannot believe what his future self did. How could he leave his powers, Jamie and the kids, his very identity behind?

But the more Jack gets to know his daughter, the more appealing the idea of having his own children wanders around his head. Lets put in a kind of Meet the Robinsons scenario so future!Jack isnt around thus giving past/presentJack! freedom to explore this probability. The more he sees the more he likes.

The more the Guardians see his chance in perspective about the idea; but they still dont know how to become mortal.... what ever happens?

Jack meets Merida after the mission (and being told not to tell her a word in the matter about you-know-what) and just sees her in a different light. And it’s so funny because he can see traits of their future daughter on her and thats.... heartwarming. That he could have that future.
