"The Martian" is such a interesting story concept but in my opinion it mostly fails in the most appealing part:
The trauma
Like yeah it's kinda cool that the science it's 80% accurate and all but what's the point if you barely show Watney's suffering?
It's like a pizza with cheese but no tomato sauce
Or a burguer with cheese but to meat
The science stuff it's supposed to be the cherry on top of the cake, not the WHOLE CAKE
Where is Watney's hallucinations of the rest of the crew? Or of his family? or craving physical touch? or intense paranoia? or nearly forgetting how his crew or family looks like? or profound despair? I get that joking is his coping mechanism BUT WHERE IS THE CRACK'S IN IT??? IN THE WHOLE BOOK HE ONLY CRIES ONCE THATS NOT ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN A SINGLE SOUL FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS UGHHHHHHHHH I NEED MORE ANGST 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
