are the any computer games that you associate with your childhood? (or from when you were a teenager?) for me its humongous entertainment games!!
Haha ok oh man
So, I was never an avid game player. Back in the MOTHERLAND my mom and I were dirt poor. I felt bad asking for anything big for christmas (except that one time I asked for a Pikachu stuffed toy when I was 6, that was bomb). So games were OUT of the question.
BUT I had this neighbor who was 4 years older than me who I often hung out with. He introduced me to simple computer games back in the day - random, really old stuff like SkiFree
Does anyone else remember this? Just me?
Also, we used to play Chip’s Challenge a lot.
And of course, Pokemon Yellow, downloaded illegally to his computer and played on a simulator? Idk how he did that, honestly. No one in Russia had a gameboy back at that time. I have no idea how he even knew about it. It was completely in English, and I couldn’t play it, because I couldn’t read anything. Still, it was fun, and I loved Pokemon.
I think a lot of these were what actually cemented my love forÂ
1) Endless runners
2) Puzzle games
3) Walking games? (whatever you call those)
When I moved to America we were STILL not really in financial capacity to have any consoles. But my dad dug up his really old NES and I played Mario for the first time at the ripe old age of 12 or something, and also played Bubble Bobble a lot.Â
I also eventually got a Gameboy, and played Pokemon (Ruby was the first game I owned I believe?). I never really played many other games outside of that. My friends all had consoles like Xbox and Playstation or whatever, and I sometimes tried to play, but they were always visibly impatient with me since I was incompetent (having not had the chance to get used to hand-held controllers past my NES phase).Â
IÂ played some Spyro at some point. It was really fun. Nothing much outside of that, though.Â
