I'm not sure how it started because it was a WHILE ago, but the headcanon that Chris was a picky eater was thought up (which has been referenced in the blog).  I think it was at least mostly Honey Seekers-inspired with a little Cheetah Racer (aka Chris the grass connoisseur), plus pre-existing headcanon that Chris grazed throughout the day rather than ate regular meals.  This only seemed to get another hint when Snow Runners came around.

Whereas the first headcanon was inspired by the beginning of Honey Seekers, it was looking at a later part of the episode where the one about his sense of smell came into place.  Specifically-

Chris seemed SO much more affected by the honey badger's odor than Martin, and it sparked an idea: he has a strong, maybe even above-average sense of smell.  This was a real "Eureka!" moment.  The human sense of smell and taste are linked, to the point where they're almost the same sense.  If Chris's smelling ability was more sensitive than your average Joe, his sense of taste would likely follow along (something helped by my friend Wolfie, who actually is like this).  There've been other little hints toward his taste/smell that I can't really remember now, but Skunked! went a long way toward all but verifying it for me because

SO YEAH that's the basics of the headcanon.  I'd love to know if this applies to the real Chris or if it's just something they do for the funny, if it's conscious at all, but yeah that's about it X3
