CH-54 Tarhe transporting a derelict Catalina
An Alaska Army National Guard CH-54B Tarhe airlifts an OA-10 PBY Catalina flying boat during a recovery operation. The historic aircraft was abandoned by the Air Force after engine trouble forced it down at Dago Lake on September 30, 1947. Members of the Alaskan Aviation Heritage Museum, initiators of the recovery operation, plan to restore the aircraft and have it flying again sometime in the early 1990s.

Sikorsky Skycrane, 1975
Met an incredible gentleman named Vic who has over 30,000 hrs in these giants of the sky. Saw me standing across the highway trying to take photos and came out to ask if I just wanted to come in and walk around. Had a great time listening to his stories and getting up close to these massive fire fighting, construction heavy lift elevators of the sky!
