Dearest Readers,
After losing interest in high tea after a few underwhelming experiences, I think my faith in Melbourne's efforts was restored last Saturday. March in Melbourne is an incredibly exciting time for this festive city. We have The annual Melbourne Fashion Festival, Moomba Festival (hurrah for Labour day), the Grand Prix, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival... just to name a select few. One special event that particularly catches my attention this time every year is.... yea, you guessed it, The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Can you blame me? Who doesn't like food? Who? WHO? Ditching her intensive thesis writing for the afternoon, M and I went to The Ultimate High Tea experience at 28 Skybar Lounge, Crown Metropol.
28 floors high, we were spoiled by Melbourne's city skyline (ignoring the numerous construction cranes scattered across town) and a space flooded with natural light.
Once seated, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that our high tea sitting was in fact a buffet! I had a bit of a tummy bug but I couldn't resist.
As promised, herewith a delicious photographic recap... Warning: The following may induce excessive salivation.
Clearly you can tell which part of the buffet tickled my fancy. Did you notice anything peculiar? Yes. There were NO macarons at this High Tea event. Zilch. Non-existent. Why??? Yea, of course I was a bit upset. Just a bit... It's okay. I survived. Just.
The Ultimate High Tea event at 28 Skybar Lounge will run again on Sunday 8th March and 15th March. There was also live musical entertainment and MCed by Rita Erlich.
