Sky:Lark - LP2 (2016)
Opening with erratic mathy riffs, before introducing a subtle saxophone which becomes dominating and extremely avant-garde, opener 'Inner Ear Destruction' encapsulates Sky:Lark on their latest LP, LP2. The boundary-less noise rock 3-piece flutter from the destructiveness of the aforementioned opener, to the meandering noise/alt rock 'Trilogy 3', Sky:Lark's thick distortions really giving weight to 'Big Rig's pace and dynamics. Mostly instrumental - there's more than enough going on without vocals - but the sporadic, rough, and amateurish vocals add just the right amount of grit. The out of key vocal melody on 'Lam Elisa' adds so much more depth, and it would've done Sky:Lark harm if it was anything but this. Sky:Lark are straight to the point, with LP2 being a 9 track noise rock record that's enjoyable enough for more than one spin - what more do you want? Bill Waters
