All posts for chapter 1 have been released. I will be going on a short break to get all of the posts for Chapter 2 ready to be released.
If there are any questions about anything, then feel free to ask! :D
Until I get back, have some discarded artwork for an old fan made event that may or may not make a cameo in the AU later on down the line! (I'm still not sure what to do with these concepts myself...)
> The Days of Slumber (Concept) <
Ok. So originally, this event and all of the items showcased here were supposed to be a part of a limited "Nesting Shop Bedroom Decor Sale" that was set to take place during the story. However, that was a few rewrites ago and this fan art was made on September 29, 2024.
Ever since then, the Trialist AU has been going through a few rewrites and revamps. Now, I have no idea if any of this is going to make it into the story. If it does, then it defiantly won't be important. Just an Easter Egg. (I did say that this whole AU got over-inflated in the past. Turns out I came up with too much material! XD)
Now, the biggest question is... why? Why did I make this for a gloom and doom apocalypse au? Well... there are a few reasons:
I wanted to see what the Nesting Guide would look like with a bathrobe.
I also wanted to see them building a blanket fort.

...And here is the winning design and its sample designs for the Mask Poll!
I thought it would be neat to have all masks have an additional position on the site of the head. I know the idea is probably not viable in game, but for this concept I thought it would be fun!
The original plan was to limit my secondary colors to red, blue, green, and yellow. But then there was a specific spirit that looked good in black and white, so I decided that each one would wear a different color.
The only thing I kinda regret is the fact that the new hairstyles kinda block the colors...
Here is the Cast. Say hello! :3
(Zoom in for a better look!)
For some of the spirits, I was having trouble figuring out what emotes they should have. More specifically, the spirits that don't have confirmed emotes are the Kite-Flyer, the Shadow Puppeteer, and the Game Master. I have considered a rock-paper- scissors emote for the Gamemaster, but I'm still not sure.
If anyone has any ideas for emotes for these spirits, them please put them in the reblogs or comments. I would love to see your ideas.
As you can probably tell, no one is wearing any capes. This is because the original plan was to have the capes be separate from most of the cast. However this plan has changed, and I will be giving capes to the Guide, the Glassblower, the Gamemaster, and potentially the Toymaker. I'm having trouble picking designs for the capes as I have a lot of ideas that I think would look cool for this cast.
I may do one last poll for the cape designs of the chosen spirits.
Location wise... This event would take place on an island. As for which realm, I don't know. I'm torn between the Isle of Dawn, the Daylight Prairie, and Valley of Triumph. The exact area name is simply called the Fair for now, and the center location in the Fair is called the Plaza. I want the location to be loosely based off of Venice, Italy, the place of inspiration for this collection of spirits and cosmetics.
If anyone has any suggestions, please reblog and comment!
More information about the cast is under the cut!
Here are four facts about each spirit.
Going in order from left to right-
- The Glassblower -
Others compare her personality to her craft: beautiful, yet delicate.
It takes her over an hour to do her hair done in the morning.
Her favorite prank to pull is putting little glass manatee figurines all over her friends' houses.
She is very protective of her work and will go to great lengths to protect her creations.
- The Sugar Spinner -
Her work station is more like a lab, she experiments a lot.
Absolutely loves it when customers try her new creations!
Her favorite prank to pull is recreating her friends' items entirely out of candy and then replacing them.
No one knows the relationship dynamic between the Glassblower and the Sugar spinner. They are able to work together, but they seem to bicker all the time....
- The Kite-Flyer -
She is the most artistically gifted of the group, specializing in crafting and painting.
Ever since she was little, she has always dreamed of flying over the clouds.
Her favorite pranks include drawing on her friends' masks with washable paint, and taping silly pictures over photographs.
Her favorite light creature is the Atlas Manta.
- The Toymaker -
Makes some toys to donate to charity for the poor children.
He always has a solution to fix any problem, and his advice is usually never wrong.
Has made replicas of all of his friends' shoes that squeak when they walk in them as a joke. Sometimes he'll replace the real shoes with the squeaky replicas.
Loves astronomy as a personal hobby and will spend hours after dark looking at the stars.
- The Shadow Puppeteer -
Is rarely seen around the Plaza, but is known to help behind the scenes.
If you find him, he may give you a secret gift to help you redeem some prizes.
His favorite prank to pull is taping signs onto peoples' backs. No one has ever caught him in the act.
Runs a shadow puppet theater at the edge of the Fair. However, his favorite type of puppets are sock puppets.
- The Gamemaster -
Considers himself a mastermind and will turn anything into a game.
Likes to set up games and puzzles for others to solve, but won't tolerate cheaters.
Is the number one prankster among the cast. His favorite prank? No one knows what it is. There's currently a bet on it to see who will guess it correctly.
His biggest secret is that he loves ducks. Don't tell anybody. :3
- The Guide -
Strongly believes that presentation is the most important aspect of a show.
Knows a mix of real magic and optical illusions. She'll often mix them to add some flare to her shows
Her favorite prank is that she will randomly change someone's entire outfit to a random assortment of clothes from their closet. She doesn't pull this often though.
Is actually really organized and a bit of a perfectionist. She stresses over the small details a lot.
The event back story and quests will be added at a later date.
Okay, Skyblr, HOT TAKE
What if sky kids could get sick?Â
Yea, I know you are probably thinking: “but how can sky kids get sick, if they are beings of light?”
here is where my idea that I’ve come up with instead of sleeping last night comes in.
So, we all know about dark plants, right? The fellas that we all love to burn for the sweet, sweet wax? Yea, these guys. Since they are plants, they have to make seeds somehow, right? And since there aren’t any bees or butterflies (especially in wasteland) to pollinate them, they are probably spreading their pollen by the wind.Â
Are you still listening? Good. Now, imagine: during certain seasons, for example fall, the plants will start producing pollen in big quantities, that will be spread by wind all around them. And since the pollen is usually pretty small, it would be pretty hard to notice them. Now, let’s think about this scenario: a sky kid goes down to burn a dark plant like the usual, and accidently breaths in, or, in a case that sky kids don’t breath, the pollen gets inside his body by itself by misfortunate events. Most of the pollen, after getting into the sky kid’s body will burn immediately. But a little dose of it won’t, and will be able to catch up on the inner walls of the lungs or the body, and, if the circumstances are right, the pollen will be able to grow into a small dark plant inside the child’s body.Â
And this is how the sickness starts.
No need to worry - it’s nothing deadly, it’s sort of an equivalent to a common cold, unless the sky kid mistreat themselves during sickness.Â
Now, what are the symptoms? I know you probably didn’t ask, but I will tell you anyway! The symptoms are:
- coughing (due to the dark plants in the lungs)Â
- dizziness
- slow loss of light (nothing dangerous - it happens really really slowly, plus, if the kid holds a lantern or other source of light near, they won’t loose any)
- headaches and nausea (if the plant started growing inside the body)
- sleepinessÂ
Okay, good, we learned what the symptoms are, but how do we treat it? Glad you (probably didn’t) ask!Â
The main way to treat this illness is by... well, how you treat a normal cold - stay inside, rest a lot, keep yourself warm. In sky kids case, they can stay in prairie in a calm place, sleeping, while constantly hugging a lantern or a manta, in order not to loose light. And after 2-3 days, the body of the child will burn the plant, and they will go back to their normal self, healthy and full of energy, plus, now their body will be able to recognize dark plant’s pollen and burn it immediately, so the child won’t be sick again.Â
Well, this is the end of my strange little sky concept. If you want, feel free to use it in your stories. Thanks for coming to my TED-talk)
"The Shadows are Sick. They have been sick for centuries, and they are tired of being sick. The problem is that they don't know the cure." - Alcor
->The Sky Trialist AU<-
The Children of Light are going missing.
This has been happening for a while now. No one knows where they go, but they vanish without a trace. Recently, it has gotten so bad that the Elders have noticed, and it may already be too late.
Some go through Eden but never make it to Storm Lock. Some venture to the edges of the map and seem to fall off of the world. However, witnesses have reported seeing patches of a pure black smoke-like fog, as well as the silhouettes of strange creatures.
At this point too many have been taken by this unknown force; even the Megabird has started taking precautions. No new children have been born in several weeks, as the newly fallen stars seem to disappear the fastest.
Due to the disappearances, the balance of light and darkness has shifted in favor of the Corruption. Shard Eruptions have become more frequent and dangerous. Pools of black fog have begun to infest the realms. Mysterious sink holes have appeared in certain areas too, made by who knows what...
With too many unknown variables, the Elders begin taking measures to cut the losses. They bar certain realms from travel, namely the Hidden Forest and the Golden Wastelands as they are the places where kids go missing the most often. They also close Eden's gates, as it seems impossible to return to the skies without the severe risk of not making it.
While bringing awareness, as well as taking measures to prevent anymore disappearances, does help to slow the problem down, it doesn't change the situation.
The Darkness has grown stronger and is attacking the kingdom. No new kids are being born, and the Elders must find a way to protect the remaining children from going missing. They also need to find a way to calm the Darkness before the realms are consumed by Corruption.
The elders cannot protect the children themselves, even with the light helms. But the children cannot remain in hiding, as that would halt any progress in cleaning up the Corruption. This would only cause the problem to get worse...
There seems to be only one possible solution: they need to strengthen the remaining children with a source of ancient power.
The Elders appeal to the Deities of the Four Elements to grant the sky kids the strength and power to fight against the encroaching shadows...
However, the deities in question do not trust the Elders or the Sky Kids. The keepers of elemental power have lost faith in the Light. They remember entrusting their blessings to the prophesized king from so long ago, a mistake that still haunts them to this day.
It takes some bargaining from the Elders to convince the gods to lend their power to the cause. But the conditions upon which the Elders agreed to may have made things a bit difficult. Those of which being:
The elemental power is not evenly distributed, rather it is only given to those who are deemed worthy by the gods. Since the gods have specific ideals that appeal to them, every kid they share their power with has to align with those ideals. While those ideals can be learned, it is preferred for them to exist naturally.
No kid can have more than one elemental power. This is a safety measure to prevent misuse and internal corruption.
Each god can choose one child to serve them on their behalf. These kids would be the closest to the elements' ideals, and act as messengers upon the request of the gods. In return, the chosen children would receive special blessings and protections against the Darkness from their Elemental Guardian.
Even with these conditions, the Elders are convinced that they can teach the ideals needed to become worthy of elemental power to the children. With the spirits' aid, they will need to work together with the kids to help arm them against the Darkness, as well as track down any children who are already worthy of the power.
With a plan in place, the Vault Elder also begins a search through her Archives to find a prophecy to guide them in a hope that Fate takes their side. But does such a decree from the Light exist?
To a Protagonist's dismay,
El Nath, a veteran who has seen it all, is not pleased with the lockdowns. Recently, his dear friend Capella went on a Pilgrimage to the Sky days before Eden's gates were officially closed. She has not returned, leaving him to worry for her fate.
When the announcement is made about the crisis, El Nath is readily willing to do whatever it takes to find his best friend, even if it means going behind the Elders' backs.
Unfortunately for him, breaking the rules may be the only option...
And now, I leave the Fate of this AU in your capable hands...

Before picking one, I'd like to highlight the three key differences between all 8 concepts:
First is the base color.
While white is the traditional color for masks of this style, from what I've seen black is a popular color for the masks in sky. So I decided that if one is a base, the other will be secondary, giving both colors the chance to be chosen!
Second is the shape of the eyes
For a stylised cut, I've tried to recreate the Masquerade look. But I was also curious as to how the designs would look with the classic mask that we all know and love!
Finally is the general structure
For this one, it's a choice between the masks having overlapping parts that look to be attached, or for a painted look. The advantages of attachments would be to a unique look, but painted provides for an easier application.
Each one shown is a combination of these traits, shuffled to test the look!

I'll give this poll more time for results. When the poll expires, I will use the results to design the masks for the whole group of spirits! And I am pleased to say that all 7 of their designs are nearly complete. This is the final piece.
All will be showcased after a winner is chosen! And if anyone has any recommendations, then please comment! I love reading your thoughts. :3
Thank you to everyone for their input for the concepts. Here are some test outfits from the winning model.
If the other model had won, then all colors except for the trim would have been inverted. And the patterns would have been redone.
These are not the final outfits, plus all hairstyles and headdress are being reworked. After October, I am planning on doing another poll for mask designs, as well as showcasing the spirits that did not make an appearance in this post.
If you have any thoughts on these designs then please let me know! :)
Ok, so for the past year or so, I have been making a Sky AU. I've always wanted to make one of these, but I was having trouble ironing out the story to make it make sense.
It ended up ballooning in size with a main cast of 8, at least 21 side characters, and 5 fan season concepts (you may have already seen one of them). The Lore needs to be straightened out a bit, and I'm still working out how to get the Elders more involved with the plot.
There are two dilemmas I am having.
First: should I even start posting this AU at all? I have a bad track record for not posting in a long time. One could chalk it up to me being busy, but that's only partially true. I have the time, but I never post much. I'm trying to get better about that, but I don't know if starting something like this will help. The worst thing that I could do in this case is post something that I end up not finishing. (I know the Nostalgia Project needs an update.)
Second: If I decide to post the AU, then how do I go about it? I have some art ready to go, but I don't know how much I could illustrate. I've also seen that a popular way to do AUs on Tumblr is by using the Ask Box, but I'm not sure if I should do that.
One way that crossed my mind was doing it with a series of polls. Basically, putting the characters in the story and having the sections end with major character decisions that change the direction of the story as a whole. Of course, this would mean potentially having to cut some events or adding some that I never planned, so I'm not sure this will work either.
I don't know what to do in this case. So, since I would be posting it for the Sky community here, I figured I would the potential audience decide if I should do this.
Should I do a Sky AU?
Go for it!
Eh... Not a good idea.

If you think I should start an AU, then I'll post a story summery.
