Got my Iron Ring! In Canada, there is a voluntary ceremony for graduating engineers to show their Obligation to do no harm in their work. The ritual was started after the Quebec Bridge failed due to poor engineering in the 1920s. The ring is received in order to remind us of our obligation every time we sign off on a document.
All in all, it’s pretty damn cool, and I’m proud to have survived UofT Engineering. I’m very close to fulfilling my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer!
