** Skookumchuck Rapids, Canada ** And there they were. We heard the rapids before we saw them, and we literally ran the end of the trail of the Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park to see them. The Skookumchuck Rapids are officially the fastest salt water rapids in North America. The phenomena is caused by two billion liters of nutrient rich salt water flooding and colliding within the Sechelt Inlet, bringing with it an abundance of sea life. This part here is known as the 'Standing Wave' and is a popular spot for advanced kayakers from around the world.
