1. How did they meet?

Unofficially, the brief minute in the elevator while Skids was dragging Rung around the ship. Officially, they met in the lab afterwards, where Skids apologized for leaving Brainstorm for dead and offered to buy him a drink to make up for it.

2. Big Spoon/Little Spoon?

Skids is the little spoon but only because Brainstorm’s wings are ridiculous to try to properly spoon. Brainstorm says the same about Skids’ doors, but they make it work.

3. Who initiated the Conjunx ritus, and who finished it?

Skids initiated, Brainstorm would have finished it had Skids not died.

In a perfect world, they are happily conjunx after Skids is miraculously brought back through the power of love and gay science.

4. Which one purrs more?

Skids. Brainstorm’s engine sputters too much to really purr. 

5. Who takes more engex, and how do they like it?

Skids can drink Brainstorm under the table and they both know it. He’s stopped drinking as much as he used to, though. Skids likes his high-grade spiced with copper powder, Brainstorm likes experimenting.

6. Who gets more paintjobs?

Brainstorm, on account of lab accidents burning his paint. Skids likes re-painting him, though. He says it’s therapeutic, Brainstorm insists it’s because Skids makes it enjoyable.

7. Who has a worst taste in color?

Skids. Let’s be real, he’s influenced by Senator “Fashion Disaster” Shockwave. Brainstorm, however, has no such influences and actually pays attention to color palettes, Skids.

8. During the war, are they in the same faction? If not, how does this affect their relationship?

Same faction. The war didn’t affect their relationship so much because they hooked up after the fact.

Unless we’re going with Double Agent AU, in which case, BOY. There were all sorts of affects on their relationship there. God forbid those two talk about it though.

9. Do they sleep cuddled together, or side-by-side?

Brainstorm discovered early on that Skids was a serial snuggler and they’ve slept cuddled together since because Skids always ends up snuggling close anyways.

10. What do they do after the war? (if they met during the war)

Once all is said and done, Skids survives the Necroworld and all that because I said so, James, he and Brainstorm finish their conjunx ritus as soon as Skids recovers. No more wasting time, no more distractions, if one more thing stops them from finishing, Skids is pulling a Whirl and guns will be out. 

After everything else, they get their hands on sparklings and start raising the Lost Light’s favorite little hellions.

11. Did anyone predict them getting together?

Nautica. She’s seen how Skids looks at Brainstorm and has been waiting for them to stop being ridiculous. 

12. What makes them a good pairing?

They work really well off each other. Skids enjoys learning from Brainstorm and helping him with his experimental weapons, while also turning around and teaching Brainstorm a little bit of restraint when it comes to his shanix. Also, the two of them bond quietly over lost loves and there’s a slow gentle conversation about Quark that gives them both time to heal over a shared trauma, which brings them closer as well. 

They’re good because we make them good shhhhhh.

13. If they had (a) sparkling(s), what would they be like?

God, their sparkling would be an absolute hellion with Skids’ tendency to rush headlong into things and Brainstorm’s lack of tact. There’s no inheritance of Skids’ outlier powers, but that kid’s a voracious learner anyways because you can’t be the child of a super-learner and a genius without inheriting a love for learning and especially of science. 

Frame-wise, they’re surprisingly a triple-changer, jet and off-road vehicle (taking more after Skids’ original frame in build). They’re small and will always be smaller than their parents, but that doesn’t stop them from being big in spirit and enthusiasm. Loud and excitable, prone to jitters because they literally can’t contain themself sometimes. 

14. Random headcanon(s)?

alkdajfla I am not good with random headcanons, just like. Get me started on Skidstorm being wholesome nerds who probably get into debates on the viability of human sci-fi weaponry until Brainstorm actually builds the thing and Skids insists on testing it out.
