what if we undermined the war effort together to appease the goddess and we were both boys
More Skautpan sketches, from top to bottom: a Shadow Scout who was arrested during the Twin War, the royal portrait of King Bitter IX and Ambassador-consort Keyl, and an Irsough couple
here's a really rough map of skautpan btw with the major cities+some important bodies of water marked in a legend. the borders are for circa 150PT and the yellow outline is the borders of the Great Alliance. For a sense of scale, Jade is about the size of Quebec
not wanting to put apostrophes in elf names in Skautpan because it's a little cliche but needing to make it known that elves in Skautpan don't do diphthongs because I know people are going to see names like "Keyl" and "Bryes" and read them like kale and bries. I could really just save myself the trouble and write Ke'yl.... actually just solved it. Elves write their own names without apostrophes but humans and other peoples write elfic names with them. So he'd be Keyl to a Cloudlandic and Ke'yl to an Oridjinadic

sorry for skautpan posting but like. keyl and bitter's marriage is so funny. keyl-- some fucking nerd btw-- just decides on a whim he's going to climb one of the most dangerous mountains on the continent to try and discover an ancient lost clan of elves so he can write a book about them. and of course he somehow survives it but of course he doesn't speak their language so he just starts trying to talk to people in an ancient literary language until the royal guard finally sends in a history student to come translate what he's saying. and somehow this stupid as hell interaction leads to keyl meeting and marrying the king and ending the centuries long isolationist policies of the Shadow Elf Kingdom.
and the thing is he never learns Shadow Elfic. and king bitter never learns modern Elfic, and the two of them speak exclusively in ancient elfic to each other for their whole marriage.
Smash or Pass, my OCs edition: Nileth-Kay, Herald of Mermur
Pros:
-nine feet tall and jacked, will carry you around -will share good weed with you -will save you from bandits -makes friendship bracelets
Cons:
-knows very few spells for someone who has devoted their life to a mage-god -if you get to be good enough friends with them they WILL very politely ask to drink a little bit of your blood and will look so so sad if you say no (this is not normal behaviour for devotees of Mermur. they are a weird person.)

skautpan fact: Shadow Elves like to give their children names with negative meanings in a sort of reverse aptronym superstition. for example if a parent names their child "Misery" it's because they want them to grow up happy. They also usually translate their names literally when speaking other languages, which, to those who don't understand the tradition, furthers stereotypes about the shadow elves
