. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
You were sitting still against the cold pavement of your crazy, green-haired friendās floor.
Well. he used to be a friend. Oh, he was your best friend. But the war had changed him so badly as a person you don't even remember how all of this came to be.Ā
You were bleeding heavily. Your left forearm chopped off, while you sat there, crying out in pain as the smell of your own flesh began to cook. You tried to make yourself sit up, the pain and weakness won over your ability to do so, pushing you back onto your plush bottom, the only thing saving you from breaking your pelvic bone from that slight fall.Ā
Your gaze was dizzying, looking around the floor of your friendās apartment, your vision damn near white and nauseous. It had you sickening in your lower stomach. You whined in pain, tears covering your flushed pink cheeks as you rose your head up, seeing Izuku standing right there in his ridiculously clean kitchen. His muscular back on full display, war-marks, whiplashes, bruises and popped-blood vessel scars marked his greek god-like body.Ā
āI-izuāā
He froze at the sound of his name, his tense shoulders now relaxing at the tender, pained echo of your voice. He turned the stove on low before walking up towards you with a soft, loving smile. āYouāre upā¦ā he purred, kneeling down as he ran a gentle hand across your cheek, watching you shiver and whine underneath his touch, his heart breaking at the sight of you struggling to be so close to him. āIām not gonna hurt you, my loveā¦āĀ
āY-youāre aāack!...liarā¦āĀ
āWhy would I lie to you, (your/name)?ā
āY-you keep e-eatā¦nghā¦āĀ
You were struggling to say the words, your heart pounding against your chest to fight back but your brain becoming absolutely terrified to react to anything, your lips quivering a your eyes welled up with crystal-like tears, painted your flushed, hot, bruised cheeks, shutting your eye to keep out of the eye contact.
āYou keep eating meā¦ā
Izuku didnāt move, he just sat there. His expression is unreadable. His eyes carried a sense of feeling yet he kept masking it with the nonchalant semblance in his eyes.Ā
āBecause I need you, babyā¦āĀ
He needs youā¦? You. all to himself. The thought of that kept your heart racing but yet also left you angry. The hell would he need you for when heās literally using your body as a steak from a five star restaurant. That didnāt sound right at allā¦you were getting tortured to your literal death and he did this because he needed you?
āAnd gooooodddd, you smell amazing.ā
He mumbled. Your cooked forearm smelt amazing. Holy fucking shit, if you werenāt losing your mind right now. He was pissing you off! Confusing you in every way possible yet for some reason, his cute face gets to make up for it every time. But it was so unacceptable. You couldnāt take this anymore; it was too painful, too demonifying, too ritualistic, too mortifying.Ā
You remember the days where you and Izuku would sneak out of your dorm rooms and meet each other at the Takoba Municipal Beach Park, sitting under the night skies, glaring up at the stars as the two of you shared jokes, snacks, told small stories and even a few kisses that always never seemed so platonic.Ā
Suddenly, more memories crowd your head.
You still remember the day you found Midoriya hunched over his notebook on the dorm rooftop, muttering to himself about combat angles and velocity. When he spotted you, he jumped like heād been caught doing something embarrassing, but his nervous smile quickly softened. You sat beside him, listening as he rambled excitedly about new ways to improve his technique. The sunset painted everything gold, and for the first time in a long while, you saw him completely relaxātalking not as a hero-in-training, but simply as Izuku.
There was that afternoon when a sudden downpour trapped the two of you beneath the awning outside the convenience store. Midoriya kept insisting he didnāt mind getting soaked if you needed to run somewhere, but the moment thunder cracked overhead, he flinched so dramatically that you burst out laughing. His cheeks turned a bright pink, and he shyly admitted storms always startled him. So you waited it out together, sharing snacks and watching the rain curtain the world in silver. Damn near your favorite memory.
Youāll never forget the festival preparations, especially when Midoriya showed up covered in glitter from some mysterious mishap. His hair sparkled like a disco ball, and although he tried to act serious, he couldn't hold a straight face when you teased him. He eventually admitted that heād accidentally set off a whole box of decorations at once. The two of you spent an hour cleaning up, but it didnāt matterāyou were laughing too hard to care.
There was a moment after a tough mission when Midoriya found you sitting alone on a bench, exhausted. He didnāt say much at firstāhe simply sat beside you, offering his silence and gentle presence. Then, after a while, he quietly told you that he admired your strength, not just physically but emotionally. It wasnāt dramatic or loud, but the sincerity in his words stayed with you long after the ache of the day faded.
And then there was the winter evening when the power went out in Heights Alliance, and the two of you ended up building a makeshift blanket fort in the common room. Midoriya brought snacks; you brought flashlights. You talked about dreams, fears, and the futureāyour voices soft beneath the shelter of blankets and pillows. When the lights finally flickered back on, he looked almost disappointed, as if the moment had been a fragile little world that existed only for the two of you.
Then, his voice brought you out of your trance, his hand wiping away your tears.
āMy loveā¦? Are you alright?ā
āI-iām fineā¦āĀ
Izuku flashed his friendly loving smile, looking into your eyes as he grabbed you by your neck, whispering to your ear, teeth grazing the sensitive flesh.Ā
āGood..because I may need more food tonight.ā
And once he said that you flashed your eyes open.
Great a nightmare.
But you were still on the floor of his living room, your arm missing as his worried eyes glared into yours, tears filling his. āI-iām sorryā¦ā he cried out his lips quivering like a sad puppy. His mouth covered in your blood and his hands shaking badly as he nuzzled his face into your chest, holding you like you were leaving.
āI c-canāt stopā¦I-..I donāt know whatās wrong with me.ā
Rightā¦now you remember. You didnāt knock the living shit out of him because he was struggling to keep himself together, afraid of losing you too knowing this would kill you. He pestered kisses on your face and neck, letting tears spill out of his eyes along with your glossy ones. Your breath hitchesāweak and tired, painted with heavy rounds of pain before looking up at himāyou melted into his touch, looking into his dark green eyes.
āIm not surviving if you keep doing this, āZuā¦ā
āI know, baby...māsorry.āĀ
āHelp me.ā he whined, gently nipping at your chest. Not in his usual cannibalistic nibbles but those gentle love marks he used to sneak on you when no one was looking. You whined, bringing your only hand to his shoulder, as if you were trying to push him away yet bringing him closer.Ā
āIzukuā¦p-pleseā¦just stop..ā
āIm trying so hard, baby.āĀ
You knew he was, but you couldnāt take any of this anymore. You were losing sanity.
Izukuās breath hitched as he pressed his forehead to your chest, trembling so violently it shook your whole body with him. His hands hovered at your ribs, unsure whether to hold you or let go, but eventually they settledālight, shaky, as if he were afraid youād crumble under his touch. āI donāt want to hurt you anymore⦠I donātāI canātāā His voice cracked, breaking into small, pitiful sounds against your skin. He clung to you like a drowning man, nuzzling into the curve of your shoulder, inhaling you with a desperate, fractured need that made your stomach twist. āI just⦠I need to feel that youāre still here,ā he whispered. His lips brushed your collarboneānot biting, not hungry, just seeking reassurance like a terrified childāand you felt the damp warmth of his tears trailing down your chest, pooling where he refused to lift his face.
He kneaded the softness of your plush breast through the shirt, gently taunting your nipples through the then shirt before stopping, looking up at you with a puppy gaze. āPleaseā¦i didnāt for this to happenā¦but i cant lose you. I need you as close as possible..āĀ
Izuku froze the moment he realized how close his touch had drifted, his breath catching as if heād startled himself. Slowlyāalmost painfullyāhis hand retreated, fingers curling into a trembling fist against his own chest. His expression crumpled, guilt washing over him so fiercely it made him look younger, smaller⦠like the boy you used to sneak out with under the stars.
āIām sorryā¦ā he whispered, voice so thin it nearly disappeared. āI didnāt mean toā I didnāt mean any of this.ā His green eyes shimmered, overflowing until tears slipped down his cheeks, falling onto your skin like warm rain. āI just⦠I needed to know you were still real. Still here. Iām so scared of losing you that Iāā His voice broke, shattering into a quiet sob. āI keep forgetting how fragile you are now⦠and how much Iāve already taken from you.ā
He cupped your cheek with both hands, so gentle it felt like he worried youād vanish beneath his touch. His forehead pressed against yours, his breath warm but unsteady, trembling with every inhale.
āI donāt want to hurt you anymore,ā he murmured, eyes squeezed shut. āI donāt want you to look at me and see a monster. I just wantā¦ā His throat bobbed. āI just want the you who used to smile at me. The you whoād fall asleep on my shoulder. The you who trusted me.ā
He let out a shaky breath, his thumb brushing a tear from your cheek even as more spilled from his own.
āTell me youāre still here,ā he pleaded, voice barely above a whisper. āEven if youāre scared⦠even if youāre angry⦠just tell me I havenāt lost you yet.ā
His lips brushed your templeāsoft, apologetic, lingering like a memory he refused to let fade.
āIām trying,ā he breathed, voice cracking. āIām trying so hard not to lose you.ā
A gentle kiss pressing up to your lips. A promise so silent that you were scared he would breakā¦but you trusted him.
You loved him.
