so, while the laws are obviously different in Rāmia, Okpa and one of Xāqesqua’s parents are Meelasugaadic and I don’t think Okpa’s and Xāqesqua’s parents would have arranged a marriage between two women because that’s just not how marriage works for them. So what I think happened is that one of them transitioned much younger than the other and so when they got married it WAS between a woman and a “man” (not a man but nobody knew that except maybe the other bride, and maaaaaybe Fiitsãn’s father if they were already with him- possibly in secret- at the time- idk when exactly he came into the picture but he’s also trans), then the other transitioned later on. In Meelasugaado they might have to get a divorce for the other wife to legally change her gender, but they don’t have to do that in Rāmia (do they even have legal gender in Rāmia? It doesn’t seem particularly legally important to them so it might just be social), so they’re still married (and to Sinquisoq, now. Hashtag #myT4T4Tpolyamory)

Kaelía is demifamilial, as she is for every form of attraction, and Guodei is afamilial, since she doesn’t experience any sort of emotional attraction, but that doesn’t really come up for either of them… I don’t seem to have any prominently afamilial characters, at the moment. Family seems to be an important theme in Aros Against Fate; I would like to have at least one explicitly afamilial character, and this question has made me think about who that could be! Maybe Maaziariitna- she’s close with some of her family members but she doesn’t connect to people like others seem to, and maybe that closeness is just that they’re always there and consistently part of her life and all of that rather than any particular strong familial feelings of connection on her end. Kaelía, Guodei, etc have been forced into this family dynamic, and I’m sure lots of them have Feelings about it, especially if they’re afamilial? Līs generally doesn’t have good associations with the concept of family both from their birth family and this one, except they do genuinely consider Retmiq a brother and that is a positive relationship, which indicates they do feel familial attraction and form familial bonds and all that. I think Līs and [Leska] have a brief exchange in which Līs tells her that she doesn’t need to find a new family if she doesn’t want to and can just be. Qatriong could be afamilial; family doesn’t really factor into her motivation or character, so it wouldn’t require major character changes, and she’s an important enough side character that her feelings about family and being forced into that family dynamic could be explored through conversations with Zhe’ārani, Līs, and maybe even Kaelía (their one conversation after her defection/their one conversation from Kaelía’s POV is The Argument, but it could plausibly come up- mostly it would be with the other two though).
