Sou and Hina Hiiragi were a well off couple who lived in Osaka with their pride and joy: their recently born daughter Aya. When she was 2, a turn of events at Sou’s job meant the family had to move to England, and for a change of pace, they settled in the countryside. Aya grew up quite isolated; there were not many people living nearby, let alone her age, she was being homeschooled and she had hEDS. While her parents were very accommodating of this indeed, they shielded her too much from the outside world, deeming her too fragile and thus limiting her independence. For a large part of her early life the only people she’d see were her mother and tutor, since her father was constantly busy with work. Despite the coddling, there was still an especially academic pressure for Aya to get a job in a scientific field, despite her own interest in music. Her cousin Yutaro was becoming a fairly well known blader, so she ended up getting pushed towards a career in bey science. The day she turned 18, full of disdain for her family and curiosity about the outside world, she left her home and grew into a young man named Kazuo, never to return. 

Actually getting hired was far harder than initially expected, so he started with more freelance research. He travelled around to whatever clubs would let him analyse their members’ beys and strategies. During this time he formulated his big question: what does a hypothetical ‘best blader’ consist of, and how can they be achieved? On his travels, he’d made it to America, and was being allowed to do some research over at the Raging Bulls, and was having a very different and rather more interesting experience than in other clubs. This was in part due to the types of people he was working with— it wasn’t every day he got to work in such a prestigious club with bladers as powerful as Shu Kurenai or even the Number One blader in the world— but also due to the club owner taking a particular interest in him. While Gilten was a rather discomforting presence, Kazuo was naive, still eager to please and a little desperate, so when he got offered a position as a scientist on a ‘very important project’ there was no way he was going to refuse. 

That project ended up being the Requiem Project. This project on paper was everything Kazuo had ever dreamed of. He was quite literally going to help create the world’s strongest blader. Although he obviously had his qualms about experimenting on a child, he had been dedicating his life’s work to this question and now was his chance, so he made excuses for himself to not feel so bad. This did not work very well. He felt guilty, kept wanting to say something more and more every day. But he kept working out of pure selfishness. It all came to a halt once Shu had ended up fusing with Spriggan. This just went too much against his morals (or maybe it already had and now it was just too much to ignore) so he quietly left. Didn’t even talk to Gilten before packing his bags and running off. 

He decided to move back to Japan, this time staying in a little place with its own lab. The pay from working for Gilten (as well as hush money that had later been sent) was enough to sustain him. There, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Never mind if the Requiem Project succeeded or not. He was going to make the world’s best blader. And he’d do it without kidnapping children. But he would need to make his own. 

It was to be created in two parts. First was its body, a robot, designed to look like a wooden ball jointed doll. It was designed with large amounts of storage to give it perfect memory. Then was the bey, which he named Singularity Clara. He battled with Clara for some time to form a bond with it, though here he intended to form a different relationship. He promised to teach it about the outside world, confided to it the purpose of its creation. Such an unusual dynamic quickly formed strong resonance, and by replicating the basic conditions of the Requiem Project, Kazuo was able to draw out Clara from its bey and have it possess the robotic vessel. 

Clara, rather unusually for a beyspirit, behaved rather like a child, possibly due to its rapid transference to a human-like vessel. It still, however, performed as a beyspirit should during battle. The initial stages of its life were it becoming accustomed to its form, and what it was like to be a person, though it could only access many human experiences from a second hand perspective, and even then it was near exclusively from Kazuo, since its only other exposure to humans was through videos of bladers it was shown in order to gather information. For its purpose was to become a complete archive of all and the best blading moves and strategies; that was how it would become the best. Being made to learn so much in this tiring way, however, turned Clara incurious about blading, though it still wanted to learn about the outside world. 

The next part of the process was to actually teach it to be a blader. The more complicated parts like resonance or pulling off moves were actually the easiest to deal with. What was harder was Clara’s physical prowess, as it was incredibly awkward in terms of both movement and teaching. It still moved in an incredibly odd way and struggled to achieve a basic launch for a while. Finally, Kazuo decided it was time to let it go out itself and start battling others. He signed it up to Beigoma academy after a fair bit of negotiation with the school (and even then, he wasn’t disclosing everything). 

Clara was very eager to begin school life, though it struggled to express this. It had no real concept of friends or how to make them, let alone social nuances, though it quickly became a member of the beyclub given its blading prowess. This did not necessarily make it an accepted member. It was frequently not taken seriously, many of its genuine questions about the world treated as a comedic act, and was still forever obviously artificial. 

It joined some time before the beginning of cho-z, back in the beginning of that school year.
