Mission Space, Future World, Epcot [WDW] Don't let Gary Sinese's sleepwalking performance in the pre-show fool you, this is a wild ride. Dispensing with the pretense of being a "real" flight into space, instead the attraction offers a chance to feel like an astronaut-in-training (or Roger Moore in Moonraker if you prefer, with Chang at the controls.) Guests board claustrophobic centrifuge-mounted vehicles which spin and pitch to simulate blast off and slingshotting around the moon to land on Mars. A non-spinning version is available, but without the centrifugal force the whole thing feels like a bad truck-mounted simulator in a mall parking lot. The full version, however, is the best of modern Disney; an opportunity to pretend about something that most of us will never get to do in real life. A-
