this sinbublik edit by @/kadrsdoh⌠please people wake up, this massive serve omggg
were not crazy guys we promise, you just dont see the potential yet
âyou are more than just tennisâ /// âthere is more tennis in youâ aka my sinbublik rpf manifesto
i think sinbublik dynamics is really appealing because they are so different in the first place. jannik is very technical and procedural; he is the one who wants to execute every shot perfectly, and the notion of being ânever enoughâ is very adjacent to him. jannik is all about craft and hard work, strategies and cautiously planned attacks. he keeps everything to himself. any slip of the tongueâgifted vulnerability to his rivals.
sasha, on the other hand, is pure chaos. he never has a plan, he is hard to predict, and thatâs his main weapon. he gets praised for his natural feel of the ball and despised for his carelessness. he plays tennis for fun and makes it look effortless. easily carried away by emotion, he usually doesn't suppress it and prefers to be open about his losses. his hard work is overlooked: they call him lazy, they call him a clown, they accuse him of giving up and never trying. always too much, never enough. and while one is blamed for wasting his potential, the other maximizes it. sasha is too offhanded and too human to be a serious athlete; jannik is too mechanical and structuredâtoo much again and never enough. and yet, they are in the same sportâtwo sides of a coinâand there is a place for both of them.
jannik gets stuck in this cycle of being better for the sake of just being better and beating his rivals, but here comes sasha, who states that playing tennis is fun and you can truly enjoy it. that itâs not necessarily only a sport but can also be a game. also worth noting, that jannik, usually so focused and detached, face unemotional, grins and smiles with sasha (and carlos, but that's not on the current agenda). he starts celebrating, too, allowing himself to show more of the real him. matches with sasha remind jannik why he plays tennisânot only because he desires to win, but just because he loves tennis.
jannik craves to prove to the whole world that he is worthy enough, that he is truly number one, but he doesn't need to do it with sasha, because sasha knows, he has always known. he recognised his talent years ago. thatâs why their matches are not all blood, teeth, and hunger. they are not hunting, they are playing. they are more natural, and with all that playfulness, you can see true jannikâyoung, ambitious, and sometimes childish. jannik, who is not afraid to make a mistake and laugh about it.
i like to think that sasha, due to his chaotic nature and unpredictable moves, shakes jannikâs stable stance and makes him think out of the box. makes him feel a bit itchy and out of place, control slipping just slightlyâbut for sasha, this is just enough.
jannik is one of the greatest and strongest, he will be remembered in the sport. he wins like he breathes. sasha doesn't. he will never be that big, he will never make history. he is, however, the one out of the top 10, top 20, top 30âyou name itâwho can dare jannik occasionally. and thatâs how an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object.

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Jannik is a freshman â disciplined, driven, and laser-focused on tennis. Classes? Optional. Fun? Overrated.
Enter Alexander âSashaâ Bublik â a senior with too much talent and zero interest in rules. He plays like the court is his stage, smiling through chaos, turning every match into a game.
To Jannik, that kind of waste is infuriating. To Sasha, Jannikâs frustration is adorable.
They argue, they push, they circle each other â a clash of obsession and freedom that somehow clicks. Jannik swears he hates Sasha, but he canât stay away. Not from the teasing. Not from the praise. Not from the eyes that always find his across the court.
Soon, everyone on campus is betting on when theyâll finally admit whatâs been obvious all along.

Jannik is a freshman â disciplined, driven, and obsessed with tennis. Classes? Not so much. Then thereâs Alexander âSashaâ Bublik, a senior who couldnât care less about discipline. He plays like the court is his playground, laughing through every match, just there to have fun.
To Jannik, that carefree attitude feels like wasted potential. He argues with Sasha constantly, trying to push him to take things seriously. Sasha, of course, finds it endlessly entertaining to have a freshman so worked up about him.
Jannik insists he hates Sasha â but the truth is, heâs drawn to him. He craves Sashaâs teasing, his attention, the effortless praise he slips in between smirks. Their strange, charged dynamic just⌠works.
Jannik shows up to every one of Sashaâs practices; Sasha, in turn, sits on the benches during Jannikâs sessions, casually doing the younger boy's homework while keeping one eye on the court. Their gazes always find each other.
Soon, students start placing bets on when theyâll finally sort out whateverâs going on between them.
