With the ringing of the morning bell, the various sources of chatter from across the room gradually fade into silence just as the teacher walks into the class. Without wasting a moment, she sets her various resources upon a nearby surface before turning to one of the students with her firm gaze.
“Jikihara-san, if you will please direct the class…”
“Understood,” he quickly replies as he slides up and out of his chair. “Everyone, please stand...now bow…”
As directed, the entirety of the class follows his instructions. And once they exclaim in unison a semi-hearty ‘good morning’, the blue-haired male directs them to once again return to their seats.
“Okay then,” the teacher exclaims once the cacophonous shuffling of chairs has ceased. “Before we get into our lesson, I have a very important announcement. Starting today, we will have a new student joining our class.” She turns to the doorway with her unwavering gaze. “You can come on in now.”
Upon hearing her prompt, a young girl with short black hair and a golden gaze that almost seems feline enters the room with a slightly casual poise. Almost immediately, she picks up the provided writing instrument and writes her name on the board before turning back to the others.
“Hello there… I’m known as Kagerou Kiri, but Kiri-chan and the like’s fine as well…” She quickly bows to no one’s surprise, concealing the slight smirk forming on her lips all the while. “Hope I’ll get along with you all…”
The teacher nods in understanding as she takes her cue to continue her part of the process. “Okay, Kagerou-san… There should be a seat over near Jikihara-san. You have the appropriate tools necessary for success in class, right? I don’t recall seeing you with a backpack or anything...”
“Ah...that…” Kiri flashes an apparently sheepish smile at the teacher upon hearing that. “I stopped by the office earlier this morning to pick the textbooks up, and I left them in a stack just outside of the door… Hopefully you all have a locker system I can use?”
The teacher simply sighs as various chuckles can be heard from around the class. “Just...get them for now. And come with me to the faculty office after class so we can sort some stuff out.”
“Sure thing…” Kiri responds with an exuberant nod. “Just one second…”
She slips back out of the door to retrieve the books she had apparently left behind, also taking this opportunity to briefly scan the halls before going back in to take her seat. And before too long, class resumes at its normal pace and continues to do so for the rest of the day…
...Or at least it would if it were any other day.
