i’m not sure i like the way tumblr’s so good at reducing things that are complicated to narrow, neatly drawn lines. you can hold more than one, even contradictory opinion, at the same time. example: - i dislike taylor swift’s new single - i think taylor has handled her beefs very badly - i don’t think she’s anywhere near woke enough to wield her privilege appropriately nonetheless: - i listened to 1989 more than i really felt like i should have - i respect what she just did, as a victim of sexual assault, in court, facing and then eviscerating her accuser in a public arena - i recognize the way public opinion about her twists on the edge of a dime tl;dr people are complicated and contradictory. your reactions to them can therefore also be complicated and contradictory. and you can ask her to do better without making yourself part of the problem.
