Itâs difficult to not notice the man. Barnaby doesnât even know his name, but recognizes him when he comes into the coffee shop each morning. Sitting over his own usual cup, jades canât help but watch as he walks in, fumbling with his wallet like usual when ordering his drink. It brings a smile to his face, finding the shyness cute in comparison to most of the people that walk in and out of this cafĂŠ each day. That isnât even what really catches his attention, itâs the smile that brightens his features when he accepts his drink that draws the blond in. Itâs genuine and sweet, and after watching him appear day after day for a week, Barnaby finally decides to approach him.Learning his name at least, canât hurt, right?âIs this seat taken?â he asks, pointing to the one across from the man, a small smile on his lips. Itâs not exactly his style to reach out to people like this, but when the man blinks up at him, amber gaze mildly confused, he knows it was the right idea.âN-no, go ahead uhâŚâ he trails off, unsure as the blond slips into the open seat.âBarnaby,â he supplies, the smile inching slightly wider. âNice to meet you.â

Love meBarnaby isnât sure how heâs managed this, only glad that he somehow has. Itâs always like coaxing a frightened child to get Kotetsu to do anything with him that doesnât involve actual hero work â saving people, surprisingly, comes as naturally as breathing to the usually easily spooked man. Yet somehow heâs managed to talk him into joining him out here, far enough from the city to enjoy the sparkle of the lights, perched at the crest of the hill not far from the highway. The sun is setting, bringing only minimal relief from the heat of the day, a fact that is obvious by the faint sheen of sweat adorning both of their faces as they sit, propped against a large rock to enjoy the view. A view that doesnât hold much interest for him, not when his partner has stripped down to the thin tanktop he wears beneath the rest of the clothes. Itâs the first time in this heatwave that Barnaby appreciates the heat that requires even him to tie his hair back and leave the leather at home.âSee? Itâs not so bad out here,â he notes, clinking the neck of the bottle he holds against his partnerâs, offering him a small smile as they both watch the stars begin to blossom in the fading light. Heâs not entirely sure if the man sees through his pathetic attempts at veiling this situation for what he wants it to be. In his head, this is sort of a date, in a way. That much is obvious from how closely theyâre sitting, with the blond casually leaning his leg against Kotetsuâs, a few of their fingers overlapping on each otherâs hands on the ground. Itâs a far cry from the fantasies playing out in his head, but for now, itâs more than enough.
