I'm ticked and need to get it out of my system.
Some fuck decides to rag on some other streamer because they have ADHD or some other nonvisible disability. For the sake of my sanity I'm using ADHD and my phm oc as the streamer (I also wanna show my little brain critter off)
Grace, being the Cool Teacher™ and therefore being the teacher, a lot of kids unmask around, plus his own neurodivergence, is not pleased. He is especially disappointed because (for the sake of drama) the fudger who talked soot is a prominent fan of Simon's streams. He stews for a bit, when a stream notification comes through, which he obviously clicks on.
Simon is doing a collab stream with RedBear, the streamer who got the nonsense from the fan. The two do greetings, chat for a bit, and then start playing some sort of game, laughing the whole time.
Grace steps in wearing some sort of mask, and hangs around per chats request, talking with RedBear, who is so sweet the whole time.
A week later a video is posted on Simon's page entitled "Papa Star Wants to Talk. It goes like this:
[Sky blue background very out of character for a Simon video. A Papa Star PNG is on the screen, its eyes closed. Soon though they open, and voices can be heard.
Papa Star: Am I good to start?
Simon: Yep. We're rolling.
Papa Star: Perfect. Hello Little Astros! This is probably out of the norm, but I'll explain in a bit. First, thank you to RedBear for insisting on editing this, neither of us have much experience with PNGtubers. Now as for what this is, it's about something that happened prior to us talking to RedBear. Red has ADHD and is very open about their experience. They've spoken about their thoughts on medication, why they chose streaming instead of a typical job and several other things pertaining to their disability. Now before you yell at me, ADHD is a disability. It's not just trouble focusing on school or stuff you want to do, it's forgetting to eat, to take care of your hygiene, or go to the doctor. It is a disability and it isn't visible. It isn't obvious on the outside, like someone who has to use a wheelchair. I have worked with kids who struggle to unmask, to show that they're not neurotypical, that shine so much brighter when in a space that can be adjusted for their brain. If I turn a blind eye to the art kid drawing in their sketchbook because they've finished their notes, or the kid who is typing up a storm because they've got an equation down with the first explanation, those kids start to open up more.
However, what makes the ableism RedBear had to face worse, was that it was one of you, one of our Little Astros. I am not neurotypical. I know I'm not. I don't what flavor of divergent I am, but I'm not neurotypical. So, it hurts, knowing that one of you all doesn't think that folks like me should get support just because our disabilities aren't visible. That's all. Have a good day and keep shining. Papa Star, signing off.]
Okay I've gotten that out of my system, time for food and scooby doo movies!
Oh my god yes!! Now this has me wishing I had Grace as my teacher in school! And as someone who is autistic I loved this a lot! I also love you added your own oc into this too!
Also Grace as papa star calling his fans “my little astros” is canon now.
I just know Grace explaining to some parents about their kids, would say something like “they’re like stars. They just shine in their own way and there isn’t anything wrong with that.”
