However she never had really celebrated Christmas, except for last year’s presents she had given to Janet, this was most definitely a change in her life. For the first time she had an actual home to celebrate it at. Though she really didn’t see the joy of the holiday, she did it for her lover. Anything to make her happy, which was why she was humming along with Candy Cane Lane by Sia as she was preparing hot chocolate in the early morning, this time having gotten up before Simone. Hearing her lover come downstairs right after she had put the hot mugs down onto the table across the couch, two big marshmallows slowly melting into the drinks. Smoothing her hands down her black leggings she wore under the Christmas sweater Simone had picked out for her, she approached her fiance with open arms before pressing a soft but long morning kiss to her lips and squeezed her hand. ‘‘I made hot cocoa, dressed Elvis and Madonna with ornaments and they’re the cutest, look!’‘ The redhead laughed at the sight, having gently pulled the chef along to the couch as she unlocked her phone and showed her the photos she had already taken of their two children. Taking not too long, figuring they’d make more later anyways, she got a little excited for her lover to open up the presents she had bought her. ‘‘Do you wanna go first, please? You’ve spoiled me too much already this year, you have to go first!’‘ Ruby had already made her way over to the tree and gotten onto her knees to grab all the presents she had bought for Simone. The first one she reached over to her lover were the slippers she had gotten for her. It wasn’t expensive, but she was sure her fiance was gonna love them, the love she had for Elvis was truly indescribable and most specifically endless. Moving on to the next present, it was a wooden box - much heavier in comparison to the first one, where a wine bottle was inside. Red wine, to be specific. Like she had been drinking at their first meeting at the restaurant, however not the same. It was one she had overheard her fiance saying she had wanted to try out for forever. Ruby hadn’t really been a wine expert, and she still wasn’t, but after uttering something along the words Line Shack Cabernet, the owner of the liquor store had been perfectly able to help her out. The third present had been one she had been creative with, had bought a originally chocolate box for, but had given the sweets away to Paulie and Chris as a thank you for helping her out with a crate of avocados. Having combined them, she hoped her lover would remember her own joke of telling the personal trainer how the only thing she’d ever run for was a crate filled with the fruit. Tracing the present with her fingers, she couldn’t wait for Simone to open it up. Last but not least; it was a golden necklace with a heart made out of the material that was her name - except, of course she couldn’t afford a real one with her paycheck, it was made out of fake material. Hoping the chef would still appreciate the gesture, she had to admit she had tried her best, she then crawled back onto the couch with all the presents that were hers, bouncing excitedly up and down next to her with a big smile on her face.

‘‘Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey, mon amour!’‘ the redhead squealed maybe a tad too happy than she usually acted in the mornings, but the excitement to see Paris and the fact Simone had proposed to her had driven her to act like a nervous but happy puppy around her fiance and also others the past two weeks. People at the gym had noticed it, the restaurant crew and of course not to forget anyone who stopped by their house all the time. Putting down the tray with fresh orange juice and toast she had made safely on the cabinet next to the bed on Simone’s side, she then moved the sheets away to crawl on top of her fiance’s back and hug her tight. ‘‘I made you breakfast,’‘ she happily said before placing multiple kisses into her hair, ‘‘can you believe we’re flying to France this afternoon? I can’t,’‘ she continued talking as she supported herself a little on the bed so the chef wouldn’t have to deal with all of her weight. ‘‘Are you excited? I definitely am!’‘

Life was going good - great actually. She got closer with Simone every day, she found herself becoming a better person despite the fact she already was a good one. She helped Janet out with her stamina, choreography and sometimes performing live on stage - which was a little scary. Or, a lot actually. She got Jade back with their parents no longer getting in the way, they were closer than ever. There was Madonna she loved eternally and however she denied it when ever asked, she felt the same love for Elvis. Especially when he wasn’t busy being a shitass and just curled himself up in her hair at night. She had gotten back to work, worked half on the show without getting filmed and a local gym she had signed a contract with. Everything was perfect. She was back at her happy place. 

And then there was it. The breakdown she hadn’t seen coming - not even close. It was the middle of the night when she woke up screaming and kicking the sheets until she got up and had to lean forward to be able to breathe, the panic rushing through her veins. The darkness making it worse as she tried to reach around and slap everything off of her that touched her, was near her, thinking she was locked up in the cell all over again.

It had become a thing now for the redhead to wake up rather in the brunette’s bed than the one in the guest room - or in the worst case scenario, the couch. There had been one time they had fallen asleep on the love chair, unintentionally, but after the personal trainer had tucked her in and removed Simone’s laptop, the chef had pulled her in for a late night hug. One Ruby hadn’t been able to say no to on the cold October night. Waiting for the chef to come out of the bathroom, her eyes lazily watched the door as she tried her best not to fall asleep. There was her phone that could help her stay awake, but unfortunately the device was charging at the other side of the room and Ruby was too lazy to get up from the bed, aside from the fact she had already gone to the bathroom earlier in the morning. ‘‘Hey,’‘ her voice rasped when her green eyes caught blue ones and she moved her feet up in the air, crossing them while a tired morning smile lit up her face. ‘‘I don’t mean to stick my nose into your business, but I’m assuming you need to go to work again... do tell me if I’m wrong though.’‘ The redhead moved her chin on top of her arms, eyes still watching the chef, more teasingly this time. ‘‘I wonder what it’s like to be a chef, must be real stressful sometimes. But don’t worry about it, you look radishing either ways.’‘

‘‘---I missed you, God, I missed you,’‘ she whispered out of breath, before clarifying herself for why she acted this clingy and needing the brunette close. Her fingers gripping the material of her coat tighter, so she wouldn’t go away from her, kissing her once again. ‘‘I’m so happy my period ended and I don’t have to be home alone with The Motherfucker TM, can you notice?’‘ It was no secret how she called Simone’s child, the truth of how much he bit and clawed the redhead was out there on social media. So it gave her all the right to call him that. Licking her lips, her fingers worked on Simone’s coat, needing it off as soon as possible. ‘‘Please tell me you, or we, don’t have any plans today. Please. I wanna stay home and have sex all day. Please.’‘

‘‘Oh my god,’‘ she whispered under her breath as she caught the plate just in time between her hands before it hit the floor and would smash into a million pieces. Her heart racing instantly, she took a minute to recover from the heart attack she caused herself. ‘‘All fine, all good,’‘ she said louder in case Simone had heard her fucking something almost up, but mostly to assure herself it was all gonna be alright. Now, she just needed to get the eggs out on room temperature and get some other vegetables that would go with her omelet, having been taught multiple recipes from her girlfriend that wouldn’t include anything bad for her body. But the second she opened the fridge, one of the shelves slid from its place, fucking everything up inside the pretty big space. The milk can falling out, together with two dozen of eggs, all splattered on her bare feet and around her. Broken shells everywhere, she had managed to get the shelf from falling any further. ‘‘You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,’‘ she groaned rather than keeping calm like she was supposed to do. ‘‘Fuck. My. Life. Fuck me sideways, fuck me fucking everywhere.’‘ She blurted out without thinking.

With the mixtape she had made for Simone blasting through the car’s stereo, she bounced happily to the song that the girls of HAIM played, before the guitars faded out and another sound, drums actually, came to life. ‘’Yay! It’s the song you love so much,’’ her smile causing her cheeks to turn into applecheeks, already reddened by the sun that was shining for once in England- something she had gotten used to by now in the time she had been in the U.K. ‘’No one's ever loved like you. Said no one's ever loved me like youuuuu,’’ she sang along, her voice turning smoother and higher than her usual talking voice- something only Simone got to listen to a lot these days, especially when she took a shower. Enjoying the music, ignoring the struggling pain she felt in her face from the beat up she had received, she didn’t want to think about it. Today was supposed to be a fun day, and so a fun day they would make it. With Janet out of the house and Madonna safe and sound in Jade’s protection, it was just the two of them going on a much needed hike- or at least, for Ruby it was. Pulling up at the parking lot, she stepped out of the passengers seat and immediately hopped to the back of the car to get the backpacks, the heavier one belonging to the redhead. Zipping open her own, she opened up a tight sealed small box to steal some blueberries and ate some with a deep but happy chuckle escaping her throat. ‘’Aren’t you happy to be here? We’re gonna catch so many pokeman, I can’t wait for you to hatch some of your eggs too!’’ She mused, offering some of the fruit to her girlfriend as she fixed her sunglasses on her face after pulling a maybe somewhat weird face--- scrunching her nose what made the sunglasses slide off of her face in the first place.
