I know people are theorizing that William Henry Beauchamp is actually Jaime’s older brother. Personally, I think the show has kinda messed up the timelines too much to pull that off, since Claire is already five at the start of the show. That being said…I want to raise my own theory of this boy out of time’s identity.
I don’t think he’s going to be someone important to the plot that we’ve met in the show…however, I do think he is someone we’ve met in canon.
What if instead of William Henry Beauchamp being William Fraser… his true identity is that of Simon Fraser (The Young Fox)!?
Now I know that you’re thinking, isn’t he the son of Margaret Grant? Historically, yes! However, since this is Outlander, I think we can get a little creative with people’s parentage. 😉
What if Simon passed wee William Henry as the child of Margaret Grant after something happens to Julia? My reasoning for this is that we know of only one Simon Fraser in canon. And at his christening, Simon names William Henry Beauchamp after himself, so legally the boy’s name is Simon!
In canon, the we know that The Young Fox is younger than Claire but older than Jaime. Yes, technically, Simon Fraser of Lovat Jr. is born in 1726 and William Henry is born in 1715… but the timeline is already messed up as it is 😅

Day 9: Favorite character who only appears in 1 episode
I’d have to choose Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat!
And yes I’m cheating and including both young and old Simon, because young Simon was equally great in the one episode these characters appeared.
Beyond the wonderful portrayal of these two members of Jamie’s family, I enjoyed that Lord Lovat was an actual historical figure from clan Fraser. It made this fictional story feel more believable having them interwoven into Jamie’s life story.
