Yes probably you need to edit your resource file. If I'm not wrong if you don't edit the game reads only packages that are in the main folder, not in the sub-folders. Actually I stopped playing The Sims 3 so I could be wrong. But as simovee said you should Google it!

Don't panic. :) Did you instal the mod folder structure as it is instructed on MTS and the 'no intro package' works? Indeed, sub folders don't work. (They do in ccmagic btw if you want to get organized :))
