Endings and Beginnings ~

I woke up one late August day and it was my senior year. Wow! Almost an adult and no plans, ideas or dreams. Just live one day at a time is my motto.

My mom had her 60th birthday about two months after her father died. He had gotten really bad, and we put him in a home.

Then right after Christmas, my senior year, my world fell apart. We were still living with my mom's brother, Antony and his family when mom suffered a massive stroke.  It was so difficult for me, and then when Antony decided HE was going to put her in a home. We fought. Mom became so upset, she had another stroke and died.

I went into a total meltdown. I stopped going to school, smoked pot morning noon and night.  It numbed the pain and the reality.  Of course Antony decided it was best I left.

ANTONY: "Easton, I know you are lost without your mother, but you need to get ahold of yourself!  You need to finish school, go to college, do something with your life. Your mom would have wanted that for you."

EASTON: "You didn't know what my mom wanted. You didn't even know my mom. You were the one that killed her by wanting to put her in a home like you did your own father, to let him wither away."

ANTONY: "Easton, either you go back to school, or get a job. And STOP smoking that dope!  If not, then you need to get out.  I can not have this in my home. I have my own son to think about."

EASTON: "FINE! Then I am gone. I will be gone tonight!  And you go worry about your son. He may be going to school, but he is smoking the dope, as you call it, and fucking every girl he can, so I am sure you will be a grandpa soon. Don't judge me, and certainly don't try and make out that your son is better than me. He just hides it better!"

ANTONY: "GET OUT!! GO! I brought you and your mother into my home to give you shelter, food and this is the thanks I get? At least your mother appreciated what I did for her!"

I packed everything I could that night, and left. I wandered all night, not knowing where I was going or where I would stay.  For the next three months I wandered, and found an abandoned old shelter house outside of Oasis Springs hidden away off the road  and I set up a home. Just for me. I was sick and miserable. It was the most horrible time of my life, to say the least.
