Sim Monthly Challenge - July 2025

🐚🧜‍♂️ "Sea Creatures" 🧜‍♀️🐬 (Sim Dump)

It took me forever to make these because I wasn't happy with them for so long but I finally think they look good 😭

Essentially it's four mermaids but I wanted them each to have a unique vibe and not just be humans with tails (even though I like that style of mermaid, to fully lean into the theme, I wanted to challenge myself). Also, they each have a necklace that they wear in all of their outfits that I imagine is how they control their different forms, which I thought was cool (I don't have a lot of personal mermaid lore except for that lol).

That was a lot but, in the end, I'm proud of the sims I put together and hope that you enjoy them! 🤩⭐

Some Notes: These sims are not cc free, but I tried to use minimal cc in their human outfits. Each have a career and a few relevant skills, as well as some ideas about personality and a bit of optional backstory. Feel free to tag me as well if you use them anywhere I'd love to see where they end up 🥰

If you just want to make a cool edit or render instead of something other can use, that's fine too. Not sure if they will be reblogged here though, since sharing useful stuff is the main focus of this project.

Once more, I will ask you to share the project with as many people as possible (on other platforms as well)! Managing this project is taking me a lot of time and effort, and if the participation is low I will not be able to continue!

I said I was just going to make a few sims with no plot ideas at all but I mean if you spend so many hours making the sims... You can't help but come up with stories for them 😆

Meet the members of Ocean Watch! Every year, thousands of tourists flood the beautiful beaches of Sulani and it's their job to keep them safe while not loosing their own sanity in the process. Oro is the stern most senior lifeguard on the team, holding out hope for a promotion that he just can't seem to get. A cook in his spare time, he's an expert in Sulani cuisine, and is always the one to bring the best kalua pork to any event on the island. Alamea, the second most senior lifeguard, is a fierce protector of the ocean and ensures that people treat it with the respect it deserves. She enjoys living alone in her house near the volcano, where she can craft in peace from the tourist-heavy beaches. Ronan came to Sulani for the surf but stayed for culture and community. Now he's a devoted member of Ocean Watch following in his superior's footsteps. Sam is doing a summer research program on marine biology and could use the extra cash as a college student. In her free time, she likes to hike and swim around the beautiful islands of Sulani, enjoying what time she has there. And Brandon comes from a wealthy family who spends their summers at their home in the most tourist-dense area of the island. However, this summer, he's been tasked with getting a job, and being a lifeguarded sounded simple enough, he is a mermaid after all (he was very wrong). His dog Sprig is his best friend who loves digging holes at the beach and swiping the lunches of unsuspecting loungers.

Each sim is cc free and though I put way too much thought into their personalities feel free to use them however you'd like (just please don't change their skin tones) 🥰

Send us (via ask or by commenting on this post) a theme you would like to see for next month’s Simblr Monthly Collab, and we (the team) will choose our favorites! They will then be put in a poll, and you, the community, will have the ultimate choice!

As a reminder here are the rules of the event, and the first theme submission post also has a few guidelines. You can resubmit a theme that you liked but didn't win in the previous polls!

Submissions deadline is September 7th. No precise hour, just try not to submit too late in the afternoon/evening if you’re in America, cause the list will likely have been made by then (and I will be asleep).

Hopefully I can get the poll rolling as soon as possible.

Also, if you're still working on your Sea Creatures post, do post it and tag us anyways! We know life can get busy, monthly deadlines for the posts aren't super strict, they are more of a guideline.

If you missed them and are confused about what is going on, here are the rules of the event.

Since this is the first time we do this, here are a few guidelines:

Try to avoid themes that are too vague (for example "summer") as that isn't the most inspiring for creators and has often been done time and time again.

Try to also avoid things that wouldn't relate to many people (for example "4th of July", since a lot of the community is not from the US)

It can be related to the time of the year (like a festival that only happens in July), or it can just be random. As long as it's interesting, it goes.

If you have an idea but it's hard for you to put it into words, you can come to us and we'll try to help! Our ask box also allows you to send pictures if that helps.

These are just recommendations tho, if you think your idea is interesting and would be enjoyed by a lot of people, go for it (as long as it follows the rules).

You can submit several ideas, of course. The final poll will contain as many suggestions as we can fit (I don't remember what the Tumblr poll entries limit is, seven I think?) so the more options we have to choose from, the better!

Submissions deadline is June 20th. No precise hour, just try not to submit too late in the afternoon/evening if you're in America, cause the list will likely have been made by then (and I will be asleep). I know it's a pretty short deadline, but it is so the poll results come in before the start of July, and people have the whole month to work on their collab projects.
