In-between training I get to relax and play some video games...at least until the laundry caught on fire! Sarge, Blake and I put Braden out. The next morning the meeting was, of course, a lesson for us ‘idiot younglings’ about taking out the lint before every dry cycle! I found it funny, but everyone just looked at me. 

“Here man, a selfie for posterity before you burn to death next time!” 

“Gee, thanks Brooks.”

Blaz was busy at the training facility when he popped in for a quick bathroom break, all thoughts about his remaining workout cutting short. 

“Uh, hello?”

A beautiful woman was in the men’s bathroom, just washing her hands! “Oh, hi there.” Her smile illuminated the room with a mischevious sparkle to her eye. 

Blaz cleared his throat. “Ma’am, do you know this is...or, did I enter the wrong...” If he had and if Marin was here he would never live it down. 

Her lips curved, and her laugh sounded like bells. “Hahaha, no I am fully aware this is the men’s restroom. Where else might I find a good-looking man?”

“Ah...”

“What?” She moved closer. “Going to tell on me?”

Blaz blushed, and her smile deepened. “Nope...not at all.”

They talked for a while, until Blaz remembered his priorities. They exchanged numbers quickly and introduced themselves, her name was Olive. 

Blake was hard at the punching bag when he took over the stretching mat behind her. “Where the heck have you been Brooks? Sarge is all over my butt about where you were!”

“Bathroom break.”

“For an HOUR?!”

“Yeah, I had to go.”

I got to the dorms just fine, it was only a few hour’s drive. I was super excited as we left Del Sol Valley and hit the quaint desert town of Oasis Springs. This was it. My path to the stars begins now. And, if I am to be fully honest, possibly finding my sister...but first, training! I was the last one to arrive, and we all sat in the comfortable living area as we waited for our instructors to begin. 

“Greetings trainees.” The man was gruff where the woman simply smiled. “I am Special Agent Hensley and this is SR Alston. Unless we are somewhere in official capacity, we are henceforth known as Hensley and Alston. We will be your instructors for the duration of this program. Should you have any problems, come speak to one of us.”

‘Yes sirs’ were heard from us five. The two nodded, and took their seats in the rocking chairs. “Good.”

“It’s good to see all of you, I hope you are all ready for training to begin tomorrow. Hensley and I will not be gentle. This program is meant to see how much stress you can handle physically, where the university program is meant to test your mental faculties, as well as knowledge in your chosen areas of study. That means that if you have never worked out in your life, it begins tomorrow at 7 am.” Alston smiled wider at our nervous looks. “But, in the meantime, relax, take this beautiful Sunday afternoon and get to know your fellow trainees and bunkmates.”

Hensley grunted. “Yeah, we all best get real friendly quick, cause we are all stuck with each other for the next six months.”

Alston rolled her eyes. “And won’t that be a treat, with such a grump like you?”
