I had a medical check-up today and had to fill out a bazillion forms. It was the first time for me to write down 50 as my age. I have to admit that it was satisfying to see such a round, stable number on paper. I feel that I have earned it. π
I want my 50s to be like my 30s, but with a touch of my 40s. I was curious about everything, was fearless and ready for anything in my 30s. I was running on cigarettes and alcohol, though π I spent a chunk of that time living abroad, meeting new people, and learning a gamut of things. My 40s was more of a time for tempering and going on an inner journey. I have to admit that it was difficult to see myself grow old and I had a hard time coping with it. It required a lot of quiet time for self reflection and discernment, which made me see the important things in my life. People say that you are now "over-the-hill." Sure, you can see it that way, but now there's also a whole new valley for you to explore. Life doesn't end when you hit the half century mark. On the contrary, I feel that it's the opposite. It's funny, but it's like flipping a switch. I get a clean slate. I feel like I could reinvent myself again. π I want purple hair (while I still have thick tresses!), another tattoo (a cat, of course), learn another language (μλ
π), but more than those things, I am looking forward to continuing on my journey to self-acceptance and self-care. The possibilities are endless. And to quote the fabulous Diane Von Furstenberg, βNow is the time to become a myth.β #50 #journalofalockdown #silvervixen #silversisters #gratitude #greyhairdontcare #greyhairmovement https://www.instagram.com/p/CS1dZ0RB0T2/?utm_medium=tumblr
