Do you think Luka would have made a good Fox holder, I’ve seen you talk before about how Alya and Trixx are a good match because Alya values and pursues the truth and thanks to Truth we see how much Luka values it. I could also see Luka’s levelheadedness and patience being a better match for Trixx’s power vs Alya who can be a little more impulsive and direct
To be honest I definitely see where you're coming from. The thing is, while Luka thrives at connecting with people and understanding them from all sides, he doesn't necessarily approach truth in an active manner (which is to say, he does not actively seek it out).
Something that's been really important to me since Truth aired is that Luka wasn't seeking truth. Shadow Moth was. Every conscious decision Luka made was not one in pursuit of the truth; it was in pursuit of peace. Of course he wanted Marinette to tell him the truth, but, well, even in the moments before his akumatization, this is what he said to Shadow Moth:
Truth needs to be shared, not taken by force, Shadow Moth!
Luka's relationship with truth isn't necessarily one of active pursuit. He has a complicated relationship to truth because his childhood trauma was largely shaped by lies, but throughout the episode Truth, he never seems to look for it. Nor does he really look for it in Wishmaker, to be honest; he just stumbles upon it.
Which is not to say that he'd make a bad Fox holder, and in fact, I think that in the right situations, he'd make a great Fox holder. But I don't think he could fill the same niche that Alya does as the Fox holder.
The Snake's powers are ultimately about the collection of information. Rewatching Desperada in particular highlights this well: Aspik approached his powers as a form of trial and error, where each Second Chance was a new strategy. Viperion, on the other hand, didn't immediately rush in trying to fix it: his first few attempts were all about observation.
Like I said, Luka is great at connecting with people and understanding them in their entirety. I specifically think that Luka with the Fox Miraculous would be good at gathering information, or at least connecting with whoever his illusions are aimed at emotionally. (Rena Rouge tends toward connecting with people logically, which I've talked about a lot; of logos, pathos, ethos, Alya lends herself toward logos.)
However, I don't necessarily know if Luka could spur them into action, which is frequently how the Fox's powers are used. (I'm thinking about Sapotis and Miracular, specifically.) And I'm not sure he'd be willing to use the Fox's powers as a form of information collection if the person wouldn't give it to him willingly, because, well, going back to Truth:
Truth needs to be shared, not taken by force, Shadow Moth!
Definitely an interesting concept, though! I also love the idea of Fox!Luka with the flute.
(On the other hand, Kagami does actively pursue the truth in a lot of the same ways that Alya does, not to mention her obvious connection with visual arts..... Hmmm.)
