The most publicly known Silverbakk, Fredrik Stenbeck is moving to Singapore for new adventures. Magnus Elmehav is therefore taking over as CEO. Fredrik will stay as board member and is still a shareholder.
"I will still be heavily involved in the strategic direction etc, but I am no longer involved in the daily operation of the company." says Fredrik
Well, there you have it! New adventures ahead. More on what to come later.
Original post
I'm back with a gorilla post. Spent the morning going through the Gorilla part in the WWF iPad app named WWF Together. It includes many of the animals that are threatened to be extinct if we as humans do not act. Some of the animals are pandas, tigers, elephants, whales, rhinos and polar bears. The entire list.
The app is kind of cool and beautiful, but it does not miss out on the main topic, how to save the animals. The only thing I actually miss is the "click to action". Nowhere (what I could see at least) is there an action to donate or how to adopt / sponsor a gorilla or any of the other animals.Â
WWF does have several options to take action. The simplest is to adopt a gorilla, but there are many other options. The Gorilla section on the WWF Together site is not that informative (on that specific topic) either, but do link to the adoption site.
Since it is sunday I think my daughter and I will try out this gorilla origami lessons.
If we all help out, we might have a planet not entirely ruined by us humans.

Let’s help saving the gorilla
The gorillas are very close to extinction and need all the help they can get. There are only app 880 gorilla individuals left. They are very friendly and never a threat towards any other animal. The only time that they get upset is if their family is threatened and then they go all in, but who wouldn’t. They are all vegetarians and live a calm and peaceful family life. They always live with their family for very long and a family is often somewhere around 10 individuals with one male, the Silverbakk, no sorry, the Silverback, a couple of females and their infants.
Today all gorillas live in two areas, both in Africa and both heavily affected by conflict and de-forestation (criminal). The gorillas are pushed away and often also subject to illegal hunting. Also many oil companies from Europe are expanding into these areas to drill for oil and that is naturally a really bad thing for the gorillas. We can help the gorillas to survive!
It might not come as a surprise, but I really love the Gorilla. This for many many years and long before founding the company Silverbakk. I even have had the nickname Silverbakk and often used it as a username on online services (which took some time to clean when starting Silverbakk), when being anonymous still was popular online. The company Silverbakk was inspired by the gorilla and by the description
The Silverback is the dominant leader in a social tribe!
There are many other examples of crazy things I have done that are inspired by the gorillas and the Silverback in particular. Gorillas are always with me in one way or the other!
What can we do to save the gorillas?
There are probably many things we can do, but many of them are out of reach, if you do not want to go to Africa or get involved in helping Africa get peace in the region and stop all the rebel-group-wars that are present in the region or be starting a EU lobby against Europeans oil companies activities in the region.
The simplest way is to donate money to WWF and let them invest resources, money and people in the subject. I am a sponsor to the Gorillas, why do not you sign up as well, it is just a few $ a month. If you are a in Sweden, donate here, if the rest of the world, use the donate section here.
These beautiful animals deserve to stay in this world
