My view while evacuating earlier. I was in St. George, UT this morning (was coming back from vacation in Moab, UT) and got back in time to throw a few things together (maybe an hour) before I had to evacuate. Whew! A Big Thank You to the family and friends who helped grab a few things for me before the mandatory evacuation order! 🙂 It sure smells like campfires even in my closed car. Just a heads up for my online fam--
Jack and are I packing up to evacuate for the Silverado Fire. We’ve got visible ash in the air here, really bad air quality -- like standing on the wrong side of a campfire, with 45 mph winds and 80 mph gusts -- but so far the fire line is pretty far back from us, and we’re right on the edge of the mandatory evac zone. We’ve got essentials for us and Kitty Pryde all packed up, just getting a little more charge on our phones and mixing up a couple more days worth of medicated food for Kitty. We’ll be hitting the road soon.
My queue is stocked for quite awhile, but I won’t be around on Tumblr until we’re able to come back home. And that might be this afternoon, or tomorrow, or a week from now -- or never. I have friends who lost everything in the Camp Fire a couple years ago, so I know that’s always a possibility.
Either way, Jack and Kitty and I will be just fine. We’re well prepared for emergencies in general, and have had time this morning to pull together all our essentials. My plan is to check in with @megsann13 via Discord when I can, and I’ll post again here when we’re back home safe.
