The words are in the order I looked them up in. Bonus points and a virtual cookie for anyone who figures out what happens in my story.

att visa tänderna – to bare (your) teeth

att yla – to howl (dog, wolf)

att slicka sina läppar – to lick one's lips

"Oh it's just vocabulary, just learn it." Sure thing. Except some words are so similar it's ridiculous, and they mean very different things. So I made a list comparing them. It helped me, I hope it heps you :) (This is by far not complete, so feel free to add on.)

lägger (preteritum: la / lade) -> to put something somewhere (it's an action)

VS

ligger (preteritum: låg) -> something is somewhere (e.g. a city, it doesn't do much, it just is)

sitta (preteritum: satt) -> literally sitting, resting (not an action)

VS

sätta (preteritum: satte) -> to place something somewhere, set an alarm etc (this is an action)

stanna -> stopping or staying for a limited time (e.g. At a stoplight, staying for dinner)

VS

stanna kvar -> "staying" for a long time (e.g. Staying in a country when your family moves) (okay these aren't actually different words, but I found it confusing)

frisk -> fresh e.g. Air; healthy

VS

färsk -> fresh fruit (opposite of old)

VS

fräsch -> clean, refreshed (Honestly this is bullcrap. In German all three literally mean fresh.)

kyssa -> to kiss
