Jace remained silent. It had been months since he disappeared with Valentine and left no trace nor news behind other than thin leads and rumors of sightings that proved untrue. He might as well been dead,really. The things he witnessed...he wasn’t the same Jace that came back as he was when he left.

“If it matters to you, I tried to find a way to escape. When Valentine was too far away to reach you in an instant, I wanted to escape. But then...then again he has spies everywhere and I’d rather be dead than know he was going to hurt you” he spoke and only now looked up at Alec.
