Questions:
1) All books are being burned in some apocalyptic future scenario, yet you have the opportunity to save three from annihilation. Which books would you save?
the HARDEST QUESTION. off the top of my head, a book/comic called Down With Skool, which not many people know but contains all you need to know about life, my book of Catullusā filthiest poems, and the Silm because i find it inspirational in tough times.Ā
2) If you could turn into an animal at will, which animal would it be?
that is an AWESOME QUESTION but i only have dull responses. either a cat - housecat, lion, jaguar, bobcat, iām not sure - or an EAGLE. maybe a hawk. something that looks majestic and regal but also is given treats, basically.
3) Your half-cousin has been kidnapped and hung off a mountain! What pieces of questing apparatus would you bring with you on your rescue mission?
i would totally go rescue my cousin under those circumstances! i hope heād appreciate it. iād take my iPod, a map, a knife, some elven rope, grappling hooks, and some tampons. iām not saying this mission will be a success.
4) You suddenly lose all GPS, Internet connection, and phone signals while out hiking. All you have is a battered, fold-out map to get you back to civilisation. Could you navigate yourself back to the nearest town?
(you know i couldnāt) er, i would definitely try! it probably wouldnāt be easy or pretty, but iād certainly give it my best shot.
the search party might eventually find my bodyā¦.
5) If you could murder someone and get away with it, would you?
yes! but i take this question to mean i can murder one person - so iād choose to kill someone whose death would benefit the most amount of people. for example, Robert Mugabe, Putin or Kim Jong-un spring to mind as obvious choices, but iād want to make sure the murder actually had positive consequences. it would require a lot of thinking.
6) If you could live anywhere in Beleriand or Middle-earth, where would you live?
TOUGH ONE but i always loved the descriptions of Nan-tathren and its beautiful willow trees. Flowers, trees, flowing rivers, and not embroiled in some horrible conflict - it sounds perfect.
If i was living in a city, i think iād like Alqualonde! :)
7) Can you roll your ārās?
NOT AT ALL. itās actually kinda shameful.
8) What is your favourite dinosaur, and why?
Either pterodactyls or apatosauruses! The flying squads who rode pterodactyls in Dinotopia were incredibly formative for me. i wanted to fly on a dinosaur so badly!
9) Your sworn enemy suddenly offers an appeal of truce in the middle of your war. They request that you send a small party of your warriors to meet theirs, and to set the terms of parley. Parley would stop the bloodshed, but the whole situation seems a bit dodgy. What do you do?
WELL i think iād weigh up the options. In Maedhrosā case, it seems reasonable to assume that he suspected that Melkorās request to a truce was a big ole trap, but Maedhros didnāt have much of a choice - theyād lost their leader (sobs over Feanor forever) and Melkor had the Silmarils, so i always assumed that the constraints of the Oath meant he literally couldnāt refuse Melkorās offer. That he knew it might be a trap is why he went himself, and didnāt bring any brothers.
Anyway, if i was in those circumstances, I would take the chance the truce offered - but make sure i planned in case things went wrong, and had an attack ready to go the minute my enemy looked likely to do something dodgy. Iād also see if i could organise an attack on the enemy whilst they were otherwise occupied with this truce. As a History student living in central London, though, i donāt get much chance to plan or engage in battles so these ideas might be terrible. Ā
10) Would you ever describe yourself as a ācinnamon roll too good for this world, too pureā?
NEVER but i might describe you as one <3
11) Angband, Utumno, Barad-dƻr, Dol Guldur, Orthanc. Pick your lair of evil.
either Utumno or Orthanc! Orthancās aesthetic is so dramatic, and I think in Middle Earth iād have gone for Sarumanās gambit - get everyone to trust you and then betray everyone whilst having fabulous hair.
Utumno just sounds like the most evil place imaginable - built of fire and ice and obsidian, with hundreds of spooky tunnels and dungeons and all the evils of the world lurking there. Itās dramatic enough for my hammy, evil little soul.
(shoutout to Angband though for gifting us that incredible ship name)
