Amuri - ⤠OCās first time working with a force-sensitive
A/N: I cheated because the first time Amuri works with a Force-sensitive is boring (Tormen in Chapter 3) and I donāt really have anything else along those lines outlined for her since her story only really intersects with Ayrs. Hope you donāt mind that I went with a different character!
āI must warn you that Amitia is not exactly herself. Sheās been waiting for you all week, and I think the anticipation is getting to her.ā Leila Ajad-Khoury had learned long ago that her daughter was a handful, but this week had been something else entirely. It felt as though her worry lines had worry lines. āSheās just very very excited.ā
Elias, walking next to her, smiled as he took her hand in his. āWhat my wife is trying to say is that our daughter may not exhibit the traditional Jedi calm, but itās a special occasion for her.ā
Their Jedi companionās green eyes twinkled as she smiled. āYes, I can imagine how exciting it must be for a young girl to learn that she may have a connection to the Force.ā
āItās a bit more than that.ā Eliasā face revealed nothing, but Yuon could detect his amusement nonetheless. āSheās always been a big fan of the program āZeena, Jedi Warrior Princessā, so this is something of a dream for her.ā
āWell, I canāt deny that the show is quite entertaining.ā The Jedi Master paused as she contemplated her next words. āBut it also ignores the many sacrifices that must be made. Both by the Jedi and their family.ā She stole a glance at each of the parents in turn, to gauge their reaction. Both wore solemn expressions.
āI realize that she will have toā¦live with the Order. We understand, I mean.ā This time, it was Leilaās turn to squeeze his hand. āIām not sure if Amitia fully understands, though.ā
Yuon frowned. The Jedi policy of distancing padawans from their families made sense from an orthodox viewpoint of how the Order should be run, but it was not one she agreed with. āWe can discuss that together. Iām sure arrangements can be made.ā
āThat would be good,ā Leila agreed. āIn any ca-ā
Before she could finish her sentence, the doors to the apartment building flew open, revealing a small, solitary, figure wearing ill-fitting brown robes and holding a stick crudely painted to look like a lightsaber.
āStop right there!ā Called the figure. āThis is a Jedi place, you canāt come in unless you are a good guy.ā
āOh my,ā Yuon replied, doing her best to feign being taken aback. āI like to think I am a good guy.ā
The girlās brown eyes narrowed into slits. āIf youāre a Jedi youāre supposed to be a good guy. Thatās why Iām gonna be a Jedi too.ā
āThat sounds like a good plan to me,ā Yuon agreed with a smile. āYou must be Amitia, Iāve heard a lot about you.ā
āAre you going to teach me to be a Jedi? I want you to be my teacher, you seem nice.ā The girl lowered her stick, apparently having decided Yuon was no longer a threat. āThat would be really good and fun.ā
āWell, Iām not sure about who would be your teacher.ā Amitia frowned at that. āBut we can talk about that and lots of other things inside, how about that?ā
āYaaaaay! Samir and I made cupcakes for you too!ā
āOh did you?ā Elias glared at his daughter. āI must have forgotten when I told you that you could use the oven.ā
āClearly she used a Jedi mind trick on you,ā Yuon mused. āPerhaps a topic for another time.ā
āLet go!ā Amitia had somehow managed to sneak up on them without them noticing and was grabbing at their hands, trying to usher them toward the door. āI even packed all my stuff already.ā
Leila sighed. āEven your Zeena action figure.ā
āOf course I did.ā Amitia huffed and rolled her eyes, outraged at the implication of her motherās question. She turned her attention back to the Jedi. āWanna watch Zeena with me? Itās gonna be on soon.ā
āOf course,ā Yuon replied with a smile, finally letting the girl grip her hand and pull her forward. āLead the way.ā
