#sillage

Sillage (pronounced “siyaj”) is a French word that translates to “wake,” as in the wake of a boat, the ripples that trail behind a boat in the water. 

It refers to the lingering aroma of one’s perfume that others can smell even after they’ve walked away.

Jacques Heim Haute Couture Collection Fall/Winter 1956-57. Tan Arnold wears "Sillage" a flowing and light evening dress in pale muslin, with a fully draped bust. The bodice has no shoulder pads, the skirt stops at the ankle, is wrapped in a long panel that is taken at the base of the waist and floats on the side.

Le corsage est sans épaulettes, la jupe s’arrêtant à la cheville, est enveloppée d'un long pan qui pris à la naissance de la taille flotte sur le coté.
