How to keep you Dental Heath sweet
Tasty treats like candies, chocolates and etc are treats which seem to be necessary for a human. Most of the population on Earth enjoy a sweet treat in any form but these treats come with a problem which is faces by a lot of people and that is “Cavity”. Yes, cavity is populated in your mouth through these sweet delights. Which can result in a lot of oral health problems.
The question is how can these sweet delights promote tooth decay?
Basically, there is bacteria living in your mouth that produces a plaque(A plaque is a sticky substance that coats the surface of the teeth). Sugar is loved by these bacteria's and these bacteria’s feast on everything sweet which comes across them. The bacteria turn the sugar in the mouth into acid which is what attacks the enamel on your teeth and with time the damage by this attack turns into cavity and makes a person running to the dentist. Reducing sugar intake is one way of preventing this but this can also be prevented if one brushes his/her teeth for 15 minutes after eating something sweet. YES!!! 15 minutes seems like a long period to brush teeth but its way better then getting a 3 way syringe in your mouth every week by a dentist. This protects your teeth by limiting the production of damaging acid.
Ask Questions Before Eating
Question 1 : Is this full of sugar? (chocolate bars)
Question 2: Is this sticky? (chewing candy)
Question 3: Will it stay in my mouth for long? (Lollipops)
Choose a healthy treat
Sugary snack may be the best things when the word treat comes to your mind, but if you want a treat between every meal then pick something healthy and health satisfying.
Lean protein like nuts or turkey
Low- or non-fat dairy, such as milk, cheese, or yogurt
Sometimes it is difficult to give up a doughnut for a banana or a chocolate cake for an apple. In such cases you can make smart decisions like taking a thin slice of that cake rather then a whole chunk.
Always carry a tooth brush. Its not that difficult to do so. Its a small object which can fit in your bag or pocket. Its difficult to brush your teeth after every meal so why not carry a toothbrush with you and brush when ever you get the chance. My main point is DO NOT FORGET TO BRUSH AFTER A MEAL.
Think about it
These are God gifted jewels we are talking about. Why not take care of them instead of forgetting about them. Your busy schedule might not be able to you the time you need for your oral health but trust me when I tell you that you will regret every minute when you start building room for cavity in your mouth.
