WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO HERRRRRRR

kiyoko blinks the confusion from her eyes & tries to start again from the top of the page. a quick reader --- it doesn’t take her long to fully read two full sentences before the muffled PAH hits again & she loses her place. in the past few minutes, she’s wondered how much she’s actually been able to absorb of her novel ; probably not much, considering the fact that she thinks she’s read the first paragraph four times already. she’s not irritated, but moreso slightly upset. her bus ride to school is one of the only times when she’s able to crack open the book & read freely. while at school, only short breaks are provided, & then she has to attend volleyball practice. after then, it’s typically too dark to read on the trip back home. 

she takes another moment to try focusing, but it’s disrupted once more with the sound again. as politely as she can ( knowing that saying something is better than trying to push through & read the same thing once more ), she taps the boy by his shoulder.

‘ sumimasen … your music is a bit loud ... ’

Of course she’d been disappointed when Minato was absent on her birthday. Not that they’d made plans, but it would’ve been nice to do something together at least. Granted she wasn’t even sure how old she should say she is after her years lost in the darkness. Regardless, he wasn’t the kind to forget important things like that so she had to assume that something came up…right?

The early morning light was just poking up over the horizon of the mountainside. He was quiet, but there was some feeling of anticipation between them. He didn’t usually call her out to the courtyard this early in the morning. When he took her hand gently in his, something felt different.

The weight of the ring sat heavily on her finger as she looked suddenly between him and the stone. Aqua was at a loss for words as what he said finally sank in.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she raised a hand to cover her mouth.

The thought that’d she’d be marrying someone some day always seemed like a distant fantasy. Something beyond her reach. And yet this man wanted to spend the rest of whatever time they had left together. With her.

There’s a pause as she considers the question. Truth be told, it’s not something she’s thought much about.

“Minato is plenty worthy of the Keyblade as far as I’m concerned. He’s done more than enough to prove himself. However, I wouldn’t bestow it on him myself unless he wanted me to. The Keyblade is as much a responsibility as it can be a burden.”

She couldn’t help but think of her own experiences as well as the younger generation that took on the mantle while she was gone.
