Hey š
I recently gotten back into my storm and silence grind (please keep thoughts for me) and aside from the obvious fatigue or just straight disinterest from the author, I canāt help but feel dissatisfied with the concept of the books entirely. I wish that the series had either ended with Storm of bells or if he was able to add to the ending of it and not have her get pregnant ?
I know it sounds stupid but in the past week I have read new storm rising all the way up until the final storm (which I just started š but not too hopeful) but like I wish I didnāt feel like their kid was an afterthought with everything they do. Also I really miss when there was a real plot Iāll say it š I miss the first two books where there was a plot that we followed and I understand that the plot was an A plot so that romance could be the B (or even C for the first book) plot, but it just feels redundant now. It feels like everything aged down in a bad way since I first read it.
Iāll ramble now for funsies but next month will make 9 years since I first read the series, I got into it about 3/4 of the way through silence is golden. For reference - I first read it in when I was in sixth grade and now Iām a junior in college 𤯠so it sounds silly but it is not an understatement to say it helped to shape me as a person, as someone who really looked up to Lilly.
Iāll say my thoughts on the previous books now though š Storm of bells was the last good book, and even then it would probably be up there with like silence is golden for the weaker stories in my opinion (HEREāS A RANKING NO ONE ASKED FOR BUT 1. STORM AND SILENCE 2. IN THE EYE OF THE STORM 3. SILENCE BREAKING 4. HUNTING FOR SILENCE 5. SILENCE IS GOLDEN 6. STORM OF BELLS) but new storm rising was a let down, the hope was the see the same adventures but with married life like omg theyāre so cute, did not deliver
Storm of the Caribbean (?) bro I hated this book š and the worst part is I went in thinking oh yeah I never saw this book, I stopped reading originally when this book launched NOPE I had straight up forgotten everything - THE ONLY THING I REMEMBERED THAT JOGGED MY MEMORY WAS FENCE BRO, but yeah this book is forgettable but it did show me what I was wanting - I want them to be in London more š I genuinely got so excited when they were back in their offices at the end and it immediately changed bro.
Silence no more. Okay Iāll say it, horrible cover. I hated the birth, I hated how completely unrealistic the growth of Berty was (I also hate the name Berty bro). But like I always hated in these books when people comment like oh why does it never mentioned her period or her showering or pissing or eating and Iāve always been the biggest defender of WE DONāT NEED TO SEE EVERYTHING but I found myself agreeing to them with this book š like bro where is your son, why are you running and hunting 2 weeks after giving birth? And like at the end I was like okay giving the book some grace letās say itās been one full month since birth⦠why did he say a full sentence š
ANYWAY š Iām genuinely like okay I love these characters, thank you so much author for giving me them, I will steal them though. Like I genuinely consider just writing fanfiction for myself of them because Iām so unsatisfied with their stories. I literally miss when sheās an actual secretary and has to pull files and write letters for him, I miss Mr Stone, I miss the drama between her and her family - WITH THAT I donāt know if Iāll ever forgive the author for not showing us Anne and Maria and her auntās reaction to her proposal š thatās literally what pulled me back is I somehow stumbled on a fanfiction of like āoh this is a one shot of her telling her auntā like yes thank you more ?
Anyway if no one reads this I wonāt mind, but Iām someone who likes the books in spite of their latter additions please know we are on in the same ā¤ļøš
