Eleanor & Tahani

Eleanor is a Bi Icon and should have had a girlfriend at some point. She constantly tells Tahani how pretty and tall she is. The two are opposites but have fantastic chemistry. Eleanor is a dumpster fire from Arizona with too much self-confidence, Tahani is a perfect princess from Europe with zero self-esteem. Both had abusive parents. They were made neighbors to torment each other but ended up as best friends. They could've made such a great power couple.

Markus & Simon

i will never be over “our hearts are compatible” being an actual canon line and somehow simon still wasn’t romanceable.

quick explanation for non-dbh people: markus is an android who becomes the face of the android rebellion. simon is one of the main jericho androids who helps him after he joins the movement. he’s quieter than north and josh, but he’s consistently loyal to markus, and depending on your choices he can survive, reunite with markus Complete With Loaded Embrace, help him, defend him, and even sacrifice himself for him.

and when i say sacrifice himself, i mean he gives markus his heart. literally. markus is dying, simon says their hearts are compatible, tells him he has to take his, and dies so markus can live and lead their people. sorry but that is peak romance route material. you cannot give me that and then tell me the only romance option is the woman whose lovers status can happen because i picked the polite dialogue on a roof.

the north romance felt so forced. you can have a playthrough where markus disagrees with her a ton, doesn’t really seek her out or is actively hostile with her, and then suddenly their relationship status can insta-rocket several stages from "hostile" or "neutral" to "lovers" if you pick the friendly-sounding dialogue option rather than being a dick and shooing her away before she can talk to you. because of one conversation? without a proper player choice? in detroit: become human, the game that wants every tiny decision to matter? be serious.

meanwhile the game keeps putting simon and north in oddly similar positions around markus. who supports him, who he chooses in group moments, who can be there when he’s hurt - even in moments that don't seem to matter unless it was to set up a relationship choice, like during an escape sequence markus can choose whether to run with simon or north even though everyone gets away the same regardless. apparently the devs considered other love interests for markus and dropped them because the branching got too time-consuming, which would explain a lot, because simon feels like the route that got left in the walls.
