Another Katrina’s Heart. Drawn free hand, using Coop’s leftovers, shaped with the Foredom rotary shaft tools and Kutzall burrs and then sanded. I didn’t get a lot of cool grain movement with the shaping so it was a great piece to add wood burning and painting to. The wood burning was done, the Heart oiled. The area I wanted to paint was sealed to keep the tannins of the cedar from changing the paint over time. The front side with the painting and burning had a light coat of clear varnish added to protect the artwork. Right after finishing the Lennon Peace Quotes, we got another order for a Celtic Wheel Cross with Horned God and Triple Moon Goddess wood burning. Katrina just finished it up late last night! Here is the “Imagine” section done. Imagine has a shadow, there are flowers everywhere. The background is textured and shaded to make the words, flowers and Peace hand to stand out. I forgot to take pictures of laying out the “Imagine All the People” side and only one of the “Give Peace a Chance” so I’ll just bundle it up today! This pretty much finished up the laying out of the design, I have all the elements I want in there spaced out pretty well...and I didn’t have to pull out the MASTER ERASER a.k.a. the Festool DTS 400 even once...Yay! Next is adding more flowers and designs to fill in the spaces, shadowing and texturizing. The next layout I do is the bottom. This one will be, “A Dream You DREAM TOGETHER is Reality “. After getting the words centered, I try to remember to draw some of the flowers over the letters. I lightly burn it. Later, after finishing the layout I will come back, add more flowers, texturing and shading.
