Also I feel like at this in point in time (god even though I love the dumpster fire that is brio) she doesn’t want either of them. She hasn’t shown any interest in wanting to be with Rio or talk about what happened even though he’s mentioned the obvious on more than one occasion. And whenever she’s seducing dean it feels forced like she’s just trying to make things work to stay in the same house with her kids and basically pretend or get pregnant so Rio won’t shoot her ass lol
I read the ask/reply about dean getting his panties in a bunch over Beth dressing up 4 Rio but I feel like that’s all part of her plan? Like I don’t think she’s genuinely dressing up bc she wants to look good 4 him. When all her furniture went missing that’s when she started making sure she looked like a snack before going to talk to Rio. I think it’s just part of her plan of getting back in good with Rio (basically thinking she can seduce her way back into his good graces)so she can deceive him
I’m so sorry this took forever to get to - this quarantine is sucking the life out of me, honestly, and I’m having such a hard time enjoying things that I know I enjoy and I’m just overly exhausted even though I’m literally not doing anything.
Anyway, to your ask.
I definitely agree! I actually kind of love that Beth has started to almost weaponize her looks? So much so that I worked it into my most recent fic! I just love the idea that Beth is aware of how good she looks and she uses that to her absolute utmost advantage. As someone who has body image issues, that gives me LIFE.
And the juxtaposition of Beth sexing herself up to seduce Rio - it kind of has a dark dangerous edge to it, as opposed to doing the same to Dean, which I feel is definitely a more complacent action meant to smooth ruffled feathers rather than really engage with him. With Rio, I feel like she takes a more active role (of course she wants something from him), and with Dean it’s more passive because she’s just kind of tossing him a bone.
And I think that comes from Beth wanting Dean to stop pressing about business. His constant concern that she’s more interested in business with Rio than their family is putting strain on her (in addition to everything she has going on with Rio/worrying about him killing her and how she’s going to kill him), so I think Beth feels like if Dean is more secure in ‘them’, she’ll be able to focus more of her attention on the problems that matter.
Dean is definitely Beth’s security blanket, and I think that’s the only reason she makes even the sliver of an attempt to keep him around because there is safety in familiarity.
