As much as Steve hates being sick, if Danny ever took care of anyone(outside of his kids anyway) Steve would probs be the kinda guy who would try to get sick just to have Danny doting on him.
Oh my god that is true. Like...this is all very valid. I find it kinda funny, like the mental images that come to mind are just...Steve, for all that Danny likes to 'nag' him, is a pretty healthy dude. (Like...aside from radiation poisoning, stabbings, punches, bullets...I mean internally against flus and colds and stuff. I gotta specify that with Steeb xD) So Steve 'getting sick' is waaaaaaaaaaaaay harder than he thinks. He does every thing his parents told him not to do as a kid or he'd get sick. The horrible irony would fall on him that he'd get sick the week that Danny's in Jersey.

I would love to hear the thoughts of other McDanno shippers on your thoughts as to how they would handle one of them being sick.Â
Like on one hand...I can see both of them being absolutely horrible patients. Theyâre both very strong personalities and hate to be a burden, so even if theyâre on their death bed(and yeah, itâs these two so theyâve been there!) they could argue with the other that theyâre fine when itâs just not true.Â
BUT...in a headcanon of an established relationship...okay they still try their best to pretend theyâre fine but like...low-key love being taken care of and pampered by the other.Â
So..I dunno....give you your thoughts on SickDanny being taken care of by Steve or a SickSteve being taken care of by Danny.Â
And in case youâre wondering, yes Steve complains to Grace about the amount of soup too. But in the vice versa thing, Steve totally screws up the soup and has to skype Grace so she can walk him through in how to make it.Â
Just a little piece about the VC spending the early part of Halloween together.
âStop eating all the candy, Koh,â Ryang chastises. He grabs the bowl and holds it out of Kohâs reach. âItâs for trick-or-treaters.â
Koh makes a protesting sound. The effect is somewhat diminished by a mouth full of chocolate. They all know Litchfield House doesnât get nearly as many trick or treaters as it has candy. Mrs. Woo is very strict about the one piece per child rule and they have enough candy to feel all the children in Henrietta.
Earlier, Koh tried the argument that, technically, he was also a child in Henrietta and therefore liable to have a piece. It fell apart on his fifth fun-size Snickers bar.
Making a face at Ryang, Koh wanders over to the kitchen table where Rutherford and Cheng2 are playing doctor. Rutherfordâs even got a lab coat and a mask. Itâs not even dark yet. Rutherford just likes to party in style.
âBlade, Cheng2.â Cheng2 obliges, handing Rutherford a serrated kitchen knife.
The tableâs covered in newspaper, a bevy of cutting instruments arranged on one side. On the other is Ryangâs drawing to Cheng2âs specifications. This surgery was planned out to the minutest detail.
Rutherford sizes up his patient. He begins his incision.
He cuts deft, sharp strokes, cutting a circle into the persimmon-colored crown. Once the edges align, his and Cheng2âs eyes meet. Rutherford levers the knife and with a crack, the contents are revealed. He hands Cheng2 the skullcap. Cheng2 places it carefully on the table.
âWhatâs the diagnosis, doc?â
âIt'sâŚâ Rutherford pauses dramatically. He wipes his brow.
âA pumpkin,â Koh supplies. Cheng2 swats at him.
SickSteve snorts and pushed the bowl of gummy worms closer to Lee-Squaredâs reach. Nobodyâs said anything about Lee-Squared eating all the candy. Racism. There is no other explanation. Certainly not that Lee-Squared is much sneakier than Koh and less apt to shove three candy bars in his mouth at the same time.
âA flesh-eating amoeba,â Rutherford declares.
Koh peers inside the pumpkin. It looks perfectly normal to him. Just pumpkin guts and seeds. Rutherford must be an excellent doctor to tell the difference.
âIs it treatable, doc?â Cheng2âs face is very earnest. Koh applauds his staying in character.
âNot at this stage.â Rutherford shakes his head. âThe poor sod. Heâs already dead. Well,â here his voice brightens, âwe might as well remove his brain.â
What happens next involves two spoons and sprays of orange-white goop. It gets on the floor. It gets on the ceiling. It gets in Cheng2âs hair.
Ryang wrinkles his nose. âGross.â
Cheng2 flicks pumpkin guts at him.
Ryang shrieks.
The grandfather clock in the living room bing-bongs its way to four oâclock. Normally, Koh ignores it but today-
âMonster movie!â he announces. He grabs Cheng as heâs trying to sneak out the side door. Cheng is very bad at being sneaky. Itâs the hair. Very hard to be sneaky with great hair drawing all the attention. Koh has the same problem. âNope. Monster movie is for everyone. Halloween is all night.â
Chengâs cries of âno, please, I hate monster moviesâ go unheeded. Theyâre lies anyway. Everyone likes monster movies. Especially terrible, cheesy, American ones. Koh is going to make them watch Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood. Who could resist?
Koh presses on Chengâs shoulders until he sits on the carpet in the TV room.
He sets the TV up while keeping a stern eye on Cheng. Thereâs no party starting yet. Cheng can wait until six to go meet Gansey and their secret girlfriend.
âItâs starting!â Koh yells, though, of course, everyone whoâs going to watch is already here. Rutherford and Cheng2 are finishing up their pumpkin since theyâre losers who couldnât get theirs done last week like everyone else. They can listen to the cinematic masterpiece from the kitchen.
Koh looks around for a place to sit. Chengâs on the floor where Koh put him. Ryangâs got the armchair. SickSteve and Lee-Squared are sitting on the couch with a chaste one foot of space between them. Aha.
Koh steals a handful of orange and brown M&Mâs from the bag on Lee-Squaredâs lap. He ducks his head to avoid SickSteveâs hand and uses that distraction to plop down next to Lee-Squared.
âHi, L2,â he says.
âHello, Koh,â Lee-Squared says back.
Crossing his legs so that his knees are solidly in everyoneâs personal spaces, Koh sticks his tongue out at SickSteve. If looks were daggers, Koh would be murdered right now. Good thing theyâre not.
Lee-Squared just smiles and continues chewing his M&Mâs.
Twenty minutes into the movie, Rutherford and Cheng2 join them. They sit at the foot of the sofa, which is really not that smart of them because Koh is very agile and not at all against leaning down during the scary parts and digging his fingers into Cheng2âs ribs.
Lee-Squared grabs him when heâs about to. Koh pouts. Lee-Squared shakes his head.
âLetâs have a nice night, okay?â
Because itâs Lee-Squared and Lee-Squared is the nicest person Koh knows, he says yes. He sits back, only the slightest of pouts on his face and watches Warwick Davis stalk about in a leprechaun costume. He even leans into Lee-Squaredâs side a bit and puts his head on his shoulder, not to make SickSteve mad or anything but because Lee-Squared is really soft and really nice and this is nice, all of them together, even Cheng.
In a couple hours, Koh will be going to one of the public school parties. He might see one of the guys there. He might not. Heâll probably get drunk and call Ryang to drive him home or maybe SickSteve, whoeverâs up and semi-responsible. But right now, right here, he gets to have Halloween with his friends and that is very cool, no matter what Cheng thinks.
As the movieâs winding down, thereâs a knock on the door. Cheng2 jumps up, yelling, âTrick-or-treaters!â and Halloween really begins.
It was late on Friday evening, amidst the cacophony of the inter-house Mario Kart tournament, when Henry finally told the rest of the crowd.
âI invited Gansey to the toga party.â
Thereâs no acknowledgement admist the increasing noise except Koh gently asking, âWhat was that, Henry?â
âI said,â his voice was tense and loud, âI invited Gansey to the party next week.â
It was silent for a tense moment except for the cheerful sounds of Mario Kart resonating from the speakers, until Cheng2 let out a loud whoop. It was followed by the otherâs cheers.
âGo get your man!â
âFuck, Ryang, heâs not my man, okay?â Henry interjected, a blush rising to his cheeks, but Ryang ignored him, pushing against Cheng2 with his shoulder as they raced.
âDoesnât he hang around with that public school girl all the time? Donât get your hopes up.â Koh murmured from where he was sitting on the floor, back against the sofa, keeping his eyes fixed on the screen.
Rutherford leans against his side in a show of compassion but doesnât say anything whilst SickSteve exclaims âFuck that, youâre probably hotter!â before cursing out Ryang and Cheng2 as they start getting more physical with eachother in an attempt to be distractions from the game.
Henry picks at a loose thread on his baggy t-shirt, distantly watching whatâs happening on screen as he softly argues that âShe seems cool, I like her.â
Ryang and Cheng2âs altercation has turned into a makeout session as they absent mindly pretend to keep focus on the game, Koh is still winning, SickSteve is trying his best to catch up, but at the same time is violently kicking at the couple, yelling about pda.
Lee Squared, from where he sits next to Rutherford, absentmindedly playing with his boyfriendâs hair, pipes up, âIâm not saying you should steal her man, but youâve had a crush on Gansey for agesâ. He extends the a, puttting pressure on the vowel whilst Henry struggles to understand why that matters, when Gansey clearly isnât avalible to crush on.
Just as heâs about to voice his thoughts, SickSteve explodes with a swear at Koh for being âa goddamn fucking cheaterâ, whilst his square on the screen proudly boasts second place, Koh first. Ryang and Cheng2âs characterâs are still on the racetrack whilst their players are distracted by the increasingly heavy petting.
Henry reaches down next to Koh and grabs a slice of pizza from the nearly empty box, taking a bit and then whining about âhow life wasnât fairâ.
This was nothing new for an evening at Litchfield.

-The baby of the group
-Just the sweetest, most adorable guy you've ever met

-Not the best soccer player but he tries. The Aglionby soccer team isnât exactly going to regionals (the crew team is really good for a team from the mountains)
-Koh is one of the three Vancouver crowd members not actually from Vancouver (the others are Rutherford and SickSteve). Heâs from Incheon, outside of Seoul, and only learned English in school
-The worst at foreign languages. It's amazing he speaks as much English as he does. Very noticeable and cute accent. Canât pronounce anyoneâs name correctly. The VC rolls with it
-Will probably end up following in his dadâs footsteps and working for LG ChemÂ
-Loves Ryang. LOVES Ryang. He finds the pretentiousness funny. Most of the time
SickSteve
-Going head to head with Adam Parrish and one other dude for valedictorian
-Film buff. Obnoxious film buff. Only Ryang can top him for obnoxiousness
-Such an asshole. The VC highkey love it. SickSteve is very good at pinpointing the crux of an issue and confronting people about it. Donât debate SickSteve. Donât. Also donât say ignorant shit unless youâre prepared to get your ass handed to you
-Dealing with a lot of issues, including internalized homophobia, due to a Baptist upbringing and strict parents. Not the only one in the VC with strict parents but definitely the only one with super-religious parents and the threat of losing an entire community if he goes against them
-Is definitely going to elope with Lee-Squared at some pointÂ
-Koh's bestie primarily because SickSteve is first generation. They largely speak in Korean. Koh makes fun of SickSteveâs Jeollado and SickSteve makes fun of his aegyo, and both just find the relationship really comforting
Lee-Squared
-Puts up a good front of being incredibly nice and supportive but agrees with SickSteve on basically everything
-Chubby. Struggles with his weight. His family doesnât help
-Probably the only one completely and utterly unafraid to tell Henry his mind
-Will almost certainly go into immigration law or a similar field
-Along with Koh, Henry, and SickSteve, fluent in KoreanÂ
-Has the hots for SickSteve like woah. Talk about slowburn
Ryang
-Slightly nasal voice
-Trans boy
-Art snob hipster. Black and white photos are his fave. Heâs actually pretty good but his pretentiousness outweighs it
-Koh tries to gush over his photos but itâs more feeling than words
-Mom is a semi-famous daytime soap star; dad is her former personal trainer. Has an older sister who is a niche underwear model
-Guess who hates paparazzi
-Third generation. Ryang speaks almost no Korean and heâs more than a little sensitive about itÂ
-Doesnât fall for Koh nearly as fast as Koh falls for him
-Insecure. His insecurities tend to come out as criticisms of Koh and his intelligence (it scares Ryang that the only guy who's into him is a dumb foreign guy who barely speaks English. It scares him that Koh accepts him so easily- does he just not understand? Does he think Ryang is something he's not? -Ryang doesn't know because his Korean is miles worse than Koh's English)
Rutherford
-Cryptid and conspiracy theory king.
-Thinks heâs the weird, anxious one but heâs actually kind of unrecognizedly awesome?
-Dirtbikes, skateboards, surfs, probably a sick snowboarder. His sports friends think his cryptid obsession is hilarious. The VC tends to ignore it
-Considers Cheng and Cheng2 his closest friends
-Is under so much pressure to make the family proud. Will end up going to Johns Hopkins and his dad will still think he could do better
-Dadâs (black and white) side of the family is from Georgia/South Carolina area. Mom is Teochew (Chinese) from Singapore. The Singaporean is strong. Rutherford is almost completely fluent in Teochew
-Cheng2's roommate and conscience
Cheng2
-Friends with everybody
-Except Kavinsky, obvs
-Look, no one is going to like this but I have a headcanon/AU thing where Cheng2 messed around with Prokopenko back when Cheng2 was going to substance parties and racing and that shit did not go good for either of them
-Prone to saying stupid shit
-Has a tendency to speak in a mixture of stupid frat boy, social media star, and SAT vocab list
-When heâs really upset and/or angry, he slips into his native Appalachian (he grew up splitting his time between his bio dad and stepdad in Pigeon Forge and his not bio-dad in BC)
-Mixed Chinese/white. The product of a biracial gay relationship, Cheng2â˛s bio-dad is white and his not bio-dad is Chinese. They searched a really long time to find the perfect egg donor. Then Cheng2â˛s bio-dad cheated on his husband when Cheng2 was five and now Cheng2 only sees his not bio-dad during the summer and on holidays. Itâs a big story and no one at Aglionby cares (itâs not even close to the biggest amount of family drama to grace the halls, the Lynch clanâs not included)
-Has a massive, completely obvious crush on Henry and a much less obvious crush on literally every other member of the Vancouver crowd. Is somewhat married to Rutherford
-So good at Econ. So good. This boy is going to do great at Berkeley
