"The revolution will be televised."
It's safe to say that music is always changing. Whether it's the latest single dropped on the radio or the long awaited videos for our favorite songs. One thing is for certain; the demand of accessibility. Fans want their music. A lot of people nowadays solely rely on the internet for their updates on music, pop culture and current events but others are more traditional with their approach and simply watch television.
That's where all the major networks come into play. MTV, VH1 and Fuse. However, as of late there has been a new network on the radar; Revolt Television.
Revolt TV aims to do exactly what its name says. It revolts, it is revolutionary. Based with a social media approach, this channel brings forth music to the fans who want it. Artists are allowed to present their art no matter how raw and uncut that it might be. What is shown on Revolt will not be limited by "what's hot" on the billboards, or by a specific genre of music. Revolt gives a direct platform between artists to the world and opens a door for the freedom of their expression.
Launched by Sean Combs in partnership with the Comcast Corporation one of the largest cable service providers for the United States, it was his intention to open a door for change with this network. It was Mr. Combs desire to make every genre available to the people irregardless of popularity or presentation.
Not to mention that this channel features some great on-air talent. Sib Vicious, formally known as Sibley Coles is an recording artist and emcee from San Francisco that was chosen along with DJ Damage hailing out of Philadelphia. Amrit Singh, another host for Revolt was the former executive editor of Stereogum (www.stereogum.com) a leading online community for indie music. Sharon Carpenter is also a name and face within the charismatic cast who you may recognize from working with BET, BBC and GlobalGrind.
Mr.Combs also announced a Global Casting Call back in September of this year giving the chance for anyone to become a fresh face featured on Revolt TV. The contest closed September thirtieth and the videos of the entrants were narrowed down over the month of October. I'm sure that the world is excited to find out who will be picked because I know I am. I cannot wait to see what Revolt has in store for the world, but just know that the revolution will be televised.
