Okay, I don’t usually get into celebrity worshiping. You know, meticulously scanning the internet for all information you can get your hands on about Taylor Swift’s new boyfriend, or actually buying magazines so you can keep up on all the latest celebrity gossip...sounds a little bit like stalking to me, but hey! It’s for some people.
Once in a while I will catch myself eyeballing one of those magazines at the checkout lane in Walmart. Picking it up, fingering through it causually, pretending that I’m not searching for a specific page to read about whether person A really did ditch person B. Those gosh darn headlines just suck you in!
But, one person who I have gained an admiration for, and is one of the main inspirations for this blog, is the Diaryofafitmommy, Sia Cooper. Here’s her website. http://diaryofafitmommy.com/
The lady is an inspiration of strength and vitality! One thing she is famous for is her ab muscles that still show at 38 weeks pregnant!!! (*Gasp! And pause for admiration!*)
I stumbled across her Instagram account one fortunate day and have slowly built up a little celebrity for myself! One of the first videos I saw of Sia was a butt and thigh HIIT workout video. She was squatting then she turned it into a jump! With her whole 30something week pregnancy belly and all! And mentally I had to groan in pain because when I was 30 weeks pregnant I couldn’t even get off the couch or walk long periods...let alone jump. And she kept doing it! Like 10 reps! And did it smiling!
It was like a whole new world was opened up to me. I am the lady who blew out two discs with my first pregnancy and had to do physical therapy after both babies!
I would LOVE to meet Sia Cooper one day. Or correspond/ with her and let her know how much of an inspiration I think she is. Because one of the hardest things about becoming a mom is the lack of self care we think makes us mothers. And we find that as we give and give how we believe we are supposed to give...we find ourselves missing the strength we used to have, missing our abilities to do hard things, and taking our frustration out on those little ones when we’ve had a ‘hard day’. We miss feeling good physically! And we should admit it. Because we are human and we have needs. And we cannot expect our own children to develop self-care when they have a constant example of someone before them, day in and day out, totally ignoring their own needs.
And this is where my thoughts have run this lovely spring evening. Because of Sia Cooper’s inspiration, I worked out twice today doing Jumping Jacks, Stair Stepping, Squats, and more all while teaching my three year old girl how to work out too. I’ve been high on endorphins all weekend. So, thank you Sia Cooper! For being strong and vulnerable enough to share your story with me :0)
