‘ don’t listen to them. ’ she’s saying that but she’s got a glass in her hand. ‘ ... i’ll pay the tab. ’

    Though it’s void of any feeling, somehow he finds the strength to keep smiling, staring up the crossbow pointed at him. There’s no fear radiating off Reunion’s squad leader—he’s going to die doing what he lived. And, they lived hadn’t they? This game of theirs had always been planned to end one way or another, whether by his own machinations or the hands of their enemies.

    Their grand Reunion’s unraveling at the seams. Sister Talulah is no longer the same, and oh, he knows, he knows, something’s been strange for so long. Their numbers dwindling as easily as the Infected that survived his testing, and he can’t pretend any longer.

     Around him are once the guards who'd dragged him away from their original battlefield. Though their bodies are still warm, they lie still and motionless. He is alone, for the first time in a long while.

     Faust isn’t here to clean up his messes anymore, and she’d interrupted him before he could even process the loss. He’s laughing, crying. To be gunned down by a crossbow, isn’t that ironic?
