Pokemon X/Y is awesome.
Things about pokemon so far: 1) I LOVE the graphics and animation 1a) Although the change from a top-down zoomed-out view of the map is somewhat disconcerting. I'm rather used to being able to see more of where I am and where I'm going. 1b) The animation of all the various pokemon fainting makes me feel SO BAD omg. 1c) I really appreciate the fact that they chose not to make the whole game 3D on the DS. They animated and drew the game to look more 3D-ish, but only the battles actually make use of the 3D function, and even then they use a very limited depth of field, so that even if I'm looking at the screen from the wrong angle, the image isn't too blurry. My eyesight thanks gamefreak. 2) EXP Share is back to applying to the entire team a la R/B/Y, but here's the thing: it doesn't split the points. EXP SHARE DOES NOT SPLIT EXP POINTS. It gives the FULL MEASURE of points to the pokemon that participated in the battle, and then gives 50% of that to everyone else on the team. And if more than one pokemon participated (i.e., you switched out), all the participants get FULL MEASURES. DO YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THIS IS. 3) I have way too many fire pokemon I want to train. ETA 4) Oh my god the first gym leader is a SHUTTER bug AHAHAHAHAHA
